Original post by TrueLoveIn2008

What are you all doing?

platter! we love ours

Hayley: Where did you get yours from? It looks like some of the ones I saw on potterypiazza.

Jenn: was baking it yourself easy? Do you just pop it in the oven, or is it complicated in any way? (How hard could baking a plate be, right? )

OMg you are reading my mind posting this!!!! I think I want the plate, but the frame is nice too, and I like the wish bowl type of thing, so that people can actually write a little message and some advice.

I was talking to my mom though, and in regards to the plate, I thought about how I would feel on the day when that breaks. I know I would be devestated, and she said, in that case, don't get the plate, because things do break, stuff happens to things, kids break everything, and you don't want to set yourself up for that.

Ha! It's still in a bag from when the RH gave it to me!!!! I haven't done it yet but the directions were - bake for x degrees. Easy peasy.

I don't recommend potterypiazza though - the plate is BEAUTIFUL but it was like $130. I'm sure I could have found it cheaper. I saw Hayley's, fell in love, and bought it. Diff design of course...

My sister got a plate somewhere, and it broke when she moved about a year or two after her wedding. She was pretty upset by it ...

WOW. $130 is NOT in my budget right now. I think I will stick with the frame. I registered for one at BBB but didn't get it, and I wasn't all too crazy about the quality of the matting (where people would write. I got something at Linens and Things that I don't need so I may see if they have a nicer one.

my sister did a frame and it looked very nice- but will you have a place to display it forever?

I did a plate. It also came out nice!

A book can always go on a bookshelf....so its the most practical in my opinion.

Here is my plate.

Yeah - it was way too much. I cut my budget on stationary to make up the diff.

What IS your budget? You can FM if you want..

Well.... I was hoping to get this as a gift ... so I don't really have one But tops it's $50. The BBB one fits in that range and I have things to return there, so I could get it for free in that sense. It doesn't look like Linens and Things carries them, but I will check. I may just go to Michaels or AC Moore and see if they have any large frames with small openings that I could use - we all know that once something's marketed as a 'wedding' item, the price jumps. I looked online and only found a few signature frames and they were all $60 or more .. which isn't terrible, but I still have parent gifts to buy and this is not as needed as that, you know?

Also remember if you buy from BBB, linens and things, michaels or acmoore....make sure to use the coupon

The craft stores are nice because their coupons are 40 percent off...so even a 60.00 frame comes out to a little more than 30.00
