I am currently doing a leave replacement and have been asked back for a .6 position next year. I was presented with a contract that basically states I am to discontinue my job search. And if I choose to accept a posiition with another district, I am to give 90 days notice. If I fail to do so, the penalty is a large sum of money.
I am excited about the position, but at the same time wanted to keep my options open for a full time position.
Anyone ever expereience this?

I have never had this experience, but is there any way you could put off signing the contract til mid summer?

Re: Signing a School District Contract
I have until June 1 to make the decision. Im pretty much signing it, its just that I feel Ive worked so hard to get into the schools, and now signing this contract will lock me into a part time position for a year. Yes Im in a school, but what the ----am I going to do the other two days.??

Re: Signing a School District Contract
In my experience most districts have contracts that state 30 days notice. Not sure on how yours might differ but I would think you'd be part of the same contract as all the other teachers, except you'd be part time.
