Re: signing up for ww right now(oh yes right now)
i did weight watchers after college and i lost 40 lbs...it was a combination of eating right and working out...unfortunately, when i started my graduate program rotations, my eating habits fell off the wayside and over the last 3-4 years i've been so sidetracked and busy to start thinking about adding points and finding time to workout is even harder...i NEED to make a commitment though to get back on track because i do not want to look like i do now in the pictures i will look at forever...

I gained about 20 lbs as well after I quit smoking. I lost 12lbs last year while on Nutrisystem but I gained some of that weight back.
I was thinking of joining WW, I hope the food is better then Nutrisystem because some of their items weren't edible at all.

I have done WW on and off for years. It takes up a lot of time counting your points and such. It also gets expensive!
Try Www.sparkpeople.com I find it to be the same concept of eating healthy but you count calories by tracking your food online....and it's free.

www.dwlz.com realllly good website has everything you need. My fav snacks are vita muffin tops , they sell them at target and they are only 1 pt each and they are sooo good. the double choc chip tastes like a brownie and is only 1 pt couldn't believe it

i've been wanting to try vita muffins and am definitely going to try them if they're only a point.
the ww bbq chips are actually really good and 2 points. other than that just making sure you are stockpiled with fruits and veggies to eat those as snacks.

I am on the old point system I'm not too crazy about the points plus so I know the vita muffins were 1 point on the old Points

THIS! Love sparkpeople. WW is nothing magical, it just converts calorie/fat/fiber into 'points'. Calorie counting may be slightly more annoying at first, but that website is awesome and free!! I lost 18 lbs with it 2 years ago. I maintained for about a year and then gained back about 9 over the course of a second year...but I am going back to it soon!!!

one thing i learned is if you pay attention to the healthy checks (water, fruits & veggies, milk, etc) it really helps me stay full and I lose more than if I just eat my points. plus you get to eat more since they are free!!
i have been loving the fiber one 90 cal bars and their brownies (2pts each) and I try to have veggeis with lunch ( a salad) and then with dinner just to fill me up.

Re: signing up for ww right now(oh yes right now)
I did/do it currently and love WW. I was never a 'meeting' person but I think it makes me more accountable. I actually go to the meetings in Levittown and just adore my leader. At my heaviest, I was a size 24. At my wedding, I was a size 8 - they actually had to take my dress in a week before!
Like someone else said, if you stay within your points and follow the healthy eating guidelines it works. It sucks to have to journal but I think thats the key to most of these programs. I have started taking 5 min the night before and writing the next days food out and it makes it brainless.
The program has changed from years ago. Its now called Points Plus. They calculate protein, fat, carbs and fiber - no more calories. Point values have changed but so has the daily target. Vita muffins were 1pt now they are 3 (but still worth it). I think they want people eating less carbs because that seems to be where the point spike is.
Good luck!

I did WW last year and lost 20lbs. Unfortunately, the many stresses of life got to me and I gained about 15 of those lbs back, but I have recently started again and I love it. Tracking your points online is great, and there is an app for smart phones, and for the iPad as well. My advice is to track EVERY BITE - it holds you accountable for your own success, and you can look back on a week where you don't lose and know what to change from there on out. Drink tons of water, and chow down on fruit and veggies because it's all FREEE! Haha. I love VitaTops for breakfast, Activia yogurt, and salt & vinegar POP chips for when I need a nice crunchy snack. Keep your head up! Deciding to commit to a program is the hardest part - - once you get going and see the initial weight loss that first week, it'll motivate you to stay on track :)

The Laughing Cow Cheese Wedges- 2 Wedges are 1 Point. Try them on a celery stick (no points) and you have yourself a healthy snack. I have a bunch of other snacks written down, but I have them at home. I'll write some more later.
