What do you think about silk flowers in the CP? it's cheaper to rent-- but will it be totally cheesy? I went to a RH to look last week & it was set for a wedding that night with rentals- fake flowers--- what do you think?

Re: Silk Flowers?
I personally do not like silk flowers so I wouldn't do it.
However have you thought about alternating the candelabra with Candles in Hurricane Vases? Or have lower floral centerpieces alternating with the candelabra?

I don't like silk flower neither, I personally think this is the worst thing you can do in a wedding JMO.. I like your other CP a lot better( the candle rental one) If you don't want to spend money, how about a lot of candles and rose petals around?

If you think it will be cheesy, consider using candles.

personally not a fan of them either but that is me...Do what you want at your own wedding and what you will be happy with.
How about using lots of candles and rose petals, there are some great cp's that incorporate the two.

Re: Silk Flowers?
here are a couple of pics of the mock centerpiece my mom and i did. this is what we are doing on all of our tables. The picture shows fake tulips (to give you an idea) but at the wedding they will be all white and real.
candles + other decorations..... we're having small centerpieces, but extending their effect by placing shells, glass 'stones', and pretty votives I got at crate and barrel on clearance. you can get other really pretty stuff in the plant area of ikea for reasonable prices....
I really don't care for silk flowers....

Re: Silk Flowers?
We're using silk flowers (we're not renting them, we made our own) and I'm not joking, in real life, you cant even tell the difference. It saved us over $600 and they're exactly what i wanted. Unless you actually touch them, its pretty hard to tell the difference. It varies with the quality of flowers, but we used VERY good quality silks, and its really hard to tell that they're fake. Plus, when we give them away at the end of the night, our guests will be able to keep them forever because they wont die.
I have to say, I really feel like spending that kind of money on something thats just going to die in 48 hours is somewhat of a waste. FH and I didnt want to throw money away like that -- not to mention, to get what I really wanted (the types of flowers and the tall centerpieces) the florist was charging WAY more money than we felt it was worth. In the end, I got exactly what i wanted and spent a ton less.
ETA: By the way ladies, please be careful how you word your responses to some posts.

Aww thanks for checking, but no, I wasn't offended by what you said -- you stated your opinion in a very polite manner and I completely respect it. I was really referring to another comment on the thread that just kind of rubbed me the wrong way and was a little too judgemental IMO.

Anything you want to do, DO. It's your wedding period.
But, if you are having second thoughts, maybe you could use some of the suggestions other girls have made..I personally think candles can be sooo romantic!

I think silk are fine but I will say it depends on the quality of the silk and the type of flower. I have been to a wedding with silk orchid CP and you could never tell the difference. Also helps if your reception is at night and by candlelight.
BTW, LOVE that CP with the tulips and candles. I wish we had thought of something like that, but then again getting married during the day so candles would probably be bit silly.

I am not using silk flowers for the CPs since the RH includes CPs, but I am using silk flowers on some other things since I did not want to spend the extra money either. And we'll be giving those away at the end of the night too.
I agree that it all depends on the quality. If you get good quality ones, they look real. It's all your choice.

Ok glad i didnt offend you.
BTW to the girl who is contemplating silk flowers...When i went downtown to the wholesale flower district there were about 4 silk flower stores, they sell them at great prices so if you are gonna do it, you might want to check that out. They also have supplies at AMAZING prices seriously, so you can buy candles and everything there...I bought 75 votive candles for $26
for anyone interested its on 6th ave and theres stores all up and down between 26-29 street

I've had those moments--I actually try to find out if they're real by being all stealth, which doesn't ever work and the salespeople all look at me like I'm insane!

I checked out tour albumm- your CP's look UNREAL! Silk flowers or not-- how many people are going to touch the flowers? And guess what-- if they have to touch them to figure out if they're real-- then you did a great job!! One big plus to silk flowers is that you can have a totally out of season flower when it's not normally available.
Thanks for all the advice Ladies, I will definately consider all of the opinions. I am leaning towards the candleabra rentals, and mabe having my boK and aisle decorations for the church esigned so that they can sit in the center of the CPs and add some color!!! Thanks again!
