I'm thinking about getting silk wraps for the wedding. I figured I'd try it out now so I know if I like them or not.
Can anyone tell me about how much they cost?
Are they worth it?
What's the upkeep like?

Re: Silk Wraps
every two weeks you need a fill. it depends where you go for the pricing. I used to pay 40-60 depending on the salon for the initial set and a fill was 25. make sure you tell them you want them to look natural and thin.

Re: Silk Wraps
I have them and my nails grow really fast. I have to get a filling every 2 weeks. (In 2 weeks, the silk is halfway down my nail already!)
I paid $45 to have them put on, $25 for a filling, and around $12-15 or a glue manicure the weeks in between fillings. My nail place is pretty cheap.
Figure about $55-60 for the set, $30-35 for the fillings, and $15 for glue manicures. If you can go longer between fillings, you can get gel manicures for about $15-18 in between.
If your nails grow slower, you won't need as many fillings! It's a pain to sit there, but I love the way it looks. Between the horses and work, my nails take a beating. This is the only way to keep them consistently looking nice for work and my social life -- not that I have some huge social life.
I like them for me, but it can be a pain to sit there so long every other week for the fillings... and it gets expensive. I can't stand all the filing either! But I love how it looks. It isn't great for the nails underneath, so when you decide to take them off, you'll need to let healthy nails grow in for a while. I get sick of them and take them off for a few months a year, but I'm trying to keep them for the long haul this time. (I say that every time!)

Re: Silk Wraps
First set where I go is $60 and fill in is $30
I love them and to me the most natural looking if the place does it right
I get them filled in every 2-weeks

Re: Silk Wraps
i thought silk wraps were supossed to be better for your mails than acrylics. I'm so confused what to do. I don't want to have to spend a fortune for them to look nice.

Re: Silk Wraps
Silk wraps are supposedly better. They let your nails breath. I go every 2 weeks (sometime longer if I'm busy) and I pay $30 for the initial set of wraps and maybe $15 for the fill ins. My place is CHEAP!!!
