Silly ? About No-Shows at the Reception

Me and FH plan on having a seating chart, and Im just wondering how you count no-shows...does someone walk around and count empty chairs? I know at my friends reception they counted the leftover place cards...but does someone check off each guest on a list? Just curious.

I think it goes by the # of dinners served if I am not mistaken.

A lot of people told us they would be no shows. Others didn't so I based in on left placecards (we stood by the placecard table waiting to be announced).

It is counted as the number of dinners served.

yup. the kitchen knows that if they are supposed to have served 120 dinners, but only 110 were ordered...more than likely 10 dinners weren't ordered cause 10 ppl didn't show up.

don't forget also - the waiters at the reception, will give a # of ppl at their table...and they can count from there too...that would also help them in knowing if you have more ppl than your original head count

I was just curious, because with over 200 people invited there is no way Im gonna be able to look around and know exactly who is missing (unless its close family and friends)

I had a big party at a catering hall for my college graduation, and didnt realize until two days later that certain people were no shows..

If I'm not mistaken, it's by the number of dinners ordered.

how can anyone even do that at a wedding? or any kind of party? be a no show. don't people understand they are being paid for???? I'm gonna kill anyone who ends up not showing lol.
