im asking because our baker told us to make sure we got that so that it would not stain the fondant but when i went to 5 stores today in the fashion district and asked they looked at me like i had to freakin heads!!!
now for for the helpful info.
not sure who posted THIS EBAY SELLER for bling for the cake but it turns out the prices are even cheaper at the store!! its $5.50 a row for a yard!!!
i know the ebay store has 4rows at $28 a yard but if you can get your asss there its only $22 a yard !!!
i plan on getting six rows. so every penny helps, right?!?!?
its not waterproof but the fondant isn't really wet. they sorta press it lightly against it then take o off to serve.
And I LOVE that bling!

Re: silly cake question & helpful info
I think it depends on the type of satin ribbon, but there are definitely waterproof satin ribbons.

im doing the exact cake. i just have to see how many rows will look nice with the cake. i have samples of 10row and 6row
i went to m&j trimming last night.. 144$ a yard told them tog o fk themselves lolol
as far as the ribbon.. i think they mean the oil.. u dont want the ribbon to get greased up.
i think theres such a thing as BAKERS ribbon.
maybe do a google search on that?

Re: silly cake question & helpful info
my baker told me to get regular single or double sided satin ribbon from Ac Moore or Michael's. I ordered it online at the Ribbon Retreat b/c it was cheaper...

Oooo I forgot, FH is working from home today.
I got him to give me the site. They sell wholesale, so you have to buy A LOT, but it comes out to around $16 per yard or so for the 3-row.
Re: silly cake question/ribbon help & helpful info
i was the one who posted the ebay vendor. As for the ribbon, i dont really get the whole thing cause you cant eat it right so whats going to happen when you cut the cake? I'm doing the fondant ribbon

i got lots of satin ribbon for my invites for CHEAP from favor frenzy. i know someone else didn't have a good experience with them but mine was absolutely fine -- cheap and fast!
