Made a memoriam candle for my dad and then realized how UNSAFE it was to use a regular candle. **Everyone else brought it to my attention-after the fact*** Now I need to re-do it but have no idea where I can find a waxless candle. Anyone know?

Re: Silly me......
Sorry ladies... I should have explained further. I put paper around the candle with ribbon. So if I let the candle burn for more than an hour or so, it will reach the ribbon and paper and catch on fire.
I don't have any pics yet but as soon as I do- I will show you what I mean.
Everyone is warning me that after a short time of it burning at the ceremony and reception (both at same place) that the candle will burn down to the point where it reaches the ribbon and paper and possibly go on fire.

Re: Silly me......
I might have to do that. I already made the candle I went to the store today and got these little battery operated wicks. I think I might try to cut out the top part of the candle and insert one of these. AHH! I don't know

Re: Silly me......
Are you going to have the candle burning during the reception or just the ceremony? If just the ceremony then you are fine

We have not made them yet. Several posts here have said they burned the candle a bit and then are using tea candles at the wedding to avoid paper/ribbon burning.

I guess I could but I already cut the paper to fit the candle (not the size of the glass) and taped it to the candle (it would rip when I take it off) and taped ribbon around the bottom and the top. So I can take it all off but it's already done. I actually came up with a good solution. I bought this little tea light battery operated candle and I just finished cutting a hole (the size of the batt-operated tea light candle) and then I inserted it inside the candle. All we have to do the day of is turn the switch on and place it inside the candle now. You can't even tell that it's not the actual candle.
I'll take pics of both and post in a little bit.

Re: Silly me......
I had planned on lighting them for the ceremony and for the reception. So it would be burning the whole day!
