silly question....

silly question....

Hi - I'm relatively new...posting here and there...Now I have a question, and sort of feel like it's almost silly, but anyway....
I booked my hall recently for an Oct '05 wedding date. I also booked my band. Now what happens?? I don't mean with other vendors - b/c I am starting to now gather information of photogs, then I will do florists, etc...
But in terms of the hall and/or band....do I just kind of sit back now, and not really have contact with them until closer to the wedding? I know I will have a tasting next summer, and will probably go there a couple of times with my florist once I pick one...but what else???
And do I not talk to the band until a few months before the wedding??

I feel so clueless, should I be in constant contact with the hall and band??!!!

Call the hall if you have any questions (I have called twice since I booked in april 2003). Call the band a month before to confirm.

Once your vendor is booked, it's not necessary to maintain contact unless you have a question.

i know exactely how you feel..we're just kind of hanging out there counting down the days until something needs to happen. i'm sure your hall will answer any questions you have..and you can always ask on here..everyone is so helpful

we booked a lot of stuff over a year before the wedding as well.....and we didn't really need to contact them at all during the planning process. some of them sent a bill now and then, and that let us know that they still had us booked.
i wouldnt' worry about it. If you have any questions though - you should call and ask!

And, it is NOT a silly question!! If this is your first time plannign a wedding, how would you know something like that!!

Call if you have any questions. I'm sure you will be speaking to the hall at some point. I know with mine I have payments due in October and January so I will speak to them then. As for the band just make sure that they give you some type of song list or a sheet they can go by. You have plenty of time for that but it takes time to think of songs you might want. Other than that I havent spoke to my DJ at all.

My band said to call/email a couple of months before hand & they will send me forms to fill out about special songs etc, then I will confirm closer to the date. ( I need to do that this week!)

The hall I called a few times when I had questions, but now I don't expect to hear from them untill they call me to send up a final meeting.

We booked the main vendors, hall, photos, & music first. We also did the blocked off rooms now (since the price will not go down over time) and the limos. I probly won't start with dresses & flowers until at most a year before hand b/c my tastes keep changing.
