What is an escort card?

escort cards are the seating cards for your guests at the reception if they are not placed at the actual intended place setting/table of that guest.

I think its the same thing as a place card

a place card goes on the actual table and shows where at the table people are sitting.

The escort card is the card that tells people what table number they're sitting at. In other words, it's the 'Mr. & Mrs Smith, Table 4' card.

Most people call the escort cards the place cards. I never knew the difference until about a week ago when I saw something in Brides magazine!
