Silver-plated cake plateaus?

Anybody use or going to use one for their wedding?

If you're using (or used) one, did you base the style of your cake on it or vice versa?

I love them and just debating whether I should purchase one now or wait.

Re: Silver-plated cake plateaus?

I'm reluctant to buy one just yet, because I fear that as soon as I buy a round one, I'll fall in love with a square cake, but I love cake stands like that. Where did you find them?

Re: Silver-plated cake plateaus?

I found those at:The Well Appointed House (a Yahoo! store)

I was looking at the one on MarthaStewart.com ($225 for 15'):

Then I found this one on Ebay (starting bid $24.50 for 12'):

That's how I stumbled upon 'The Well Appointed House'. They have stuff up for bid on ebay as well:18' cake plateau, starting at $130

Re: Silver-plated cake plateaus?

I used one of those, unfortunately you cant see it in any of my pictures because we put the BP flowers around the cake table so basicly the look was wasted. Luckily I borrowed mine.

Re: Silver-plated cake plateaus?

I was lucky enough to be able to borrow one from another bride. She paid somewhere around $150 for her stand on ebay.

I told my reception site the dimensions of the stand but for some reason they made my cake too big and had to use this cardboard thing to hold it (which I was not too happy about but small in the scheme of things).

Then when I went to my friends wedding I saw they did a similiar thing to her cake!!

So the morale of my story is - make sure you discuss this purchase AT LENGTH with your cake maker before spending big bucks.
