All of my ancestors are from Italy and parents were born here. 1 set of grandparents were born here as well the other in Italy. My great gandfather owned three town in Calabria, italy, ruins of a castle and hotel that was in a castle like building. For some reason that we will never know he fled from Italy and left his cousins to take care of his land and properties. My grandfather hired a lawyer to go check everything out but nothing really ever came of it. My grandfather on my moms side was detective and he wrote a book that might possibly get published and has been in many newspaper articles. My grandfather was a fascinating man I really wish he were still her to share in our special day.

MY GG Grandfather was a bricklayer from Ireland. He came here to help build St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC
Kerri, how fascinating!!!!!! There's a movie on Hallmark CH. this week about 'The Last Bricklayer' I can't wait to see it!!!!!!! Mary MOB
Oh wow that's interesting! They ended up going back to Ireland and having like 13 kids! They had a farm there. Then I guess one of the kids (G Grandmother I think?) ended up coming back to America bc that's how we got here...
Actually come to think of it.. I RECENTLY just found out a TON of family history through my grandfather on my dads side (he passed away now but b4 he died). Bricklayer is moms side. He did research and got a family tree dating back to sometime in the 1700's. It's like my 5th great something or other.
Kerri, are you aware that you can have a free three day trial to Ancestry.com, and discover all kinds of things about your family!!!!! I had a trial run, and stayed up day and night to get a ton of info. I even researched my new SIL, Fred's ancestors, and was able to give him info/pic of the ship his family member came to the US on!!!!!! Mary MOB
PS You can get some free info without doing a trial, but I loved having the trial.

This is a sample of what I found for free on my Great Grandfather. He is listed as one of the children, as Edwin, but it should be Edward. There will be minute errors sometimes. Try it and see what you come up with!!!! Usually the 1880 Census Records are free; You just have to log in, with a user name and password. Mary MOB
