Since it has been a while - How were we all proposed to
December 10, 2005 Anthony and I were in NYC for dinner at Tony DiNapolis. We went to see the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. Then we went to Central Park and took a horse and buggy ride. It was really cold out but it just started to snow. It was beautiful. We were riding by Tavern on the Green when Anthony proposed to me. He had this whole thing all written down. He was so cute and nervous. And the thing I remember him saying to me (besides will you marry me) is….”I know you like yellow gold but everyone told me white gold is so much prettier. If you don’t love it, we can go right now and have the stone put in a new setting” When I saw the ring, I LOVE IT. Our parents had known so when I called home they knew what I was calling about but none of our sibling or friends know. It was a night I will never forget. My DH is such a sweetie.
Edited b/c I had the 2006 not 2005.

DH was trying to be secretive, but I knew he was up to something. We went out to a very nice dinner then he ran into his room and shut the door when we got home. (Yes, we had separate bedrooms until the wedding) Since I knew he was up to something, I just let it go. He brought me in the room and it was completely filled with candles. He poured a drink of Godiva liquor (our favorite) and pulled out a big box of Godiva chocolates. Inside the box was a ring box!!! Then he took it and got down on one knee.
Funny thing is, one of my first thoughts was 'What did he do with the displaced chocolates, so he could fit the ring box in there?'

DH and I's favorite place to vacation for a long weekend is Miami and he had this big idea that we should go for my B-Day and stay at a much fancier hotel than usual so I was already suspicious...
Then I knew he bought my ring becuase the whole month before my B-Day if I was extra happy, sad or mad his first response was always 'Do you want to see your ring'...I guess he's not one for suprises
But anyway...we always eat Sushi at the same restaurant and I we planned that for the first night I was convinced that the ring was going to come out on the Sushi boat that we always order but it didn't so I stopped thinking I knew everything...I guess that turned out to be my suprise
So we went to a fabulous dinner at a great restaurant for my B-Day and when we got back to the hotel we went for a walk and he pulled out the ring under the row of lit up palm trees...in the end it was just so simple and heartfelt and that's what made it so perfect...

Labor Day Weekend 2004 DH and I were going out to dinner in Kings Park and DH said to wait in the car because he was trying to win Red Sox vs. Yankee tickets of WBAB. So I begin dialing my phone and at 5:47PM the DJ comes on with a special message from Dave in Kings Park 'Kerry you've been through hell and high water all with me and I want to ask you to marry me' I turned to DH and there he was in the drivers seat crying with the ring, I started screaming, we get out of the car and he goes on one knee (after I ask him to) and I almost faint and said yes. We never made it to dinner, we had pizza with my parents. He set it up so everyone was listening and taping it. I eventually called back at 9:47PM (ironic, I know) and said yes like 800 times on the radio, the DJ played them together and its so nice to have the memory on tape.

Passover 2005. the whole family was in my sisters house so we could be near the hospital as my father had still been with us then. My youngest niece was forced to read the four questions in Hebrew. She didnt want to so being that i had the first cup of wine, I was tipsy enough to do it with her. After the 4th question, DH said 'I have a fifth question. Will you marry me?' The whole table was screaming, I had some matzah ball soup and geflte fish and then threw up. Then we went to the hospital because i wanted my father to know. He was unconscious but I held hs hand so he could feel the ring. I hope he knew.

Re: Since it has been a while - How were we all proposed to
Dh and I went out to celebrate our 4th anniversary, and we went to a restaurant in the village where we had our first date. We decided not to buy eachother gifts since we were trying to save money. Fast forwad to dessert, DH gives me a card and when I opened it, it was a homade card with a picture of us on it from our first date on Valentine's Day 1999. The inside was FILLED with sweet things he said about me and our relationship. Then I was instructed to read the back of the card. I turned it over and it instructed me to go back inside the card and read the first letter of every line for a message. So....I went back in and each letter ended up spelling out 'Will you marry me?' I looked up and he was on one knee.

June 25, 2005, DH and I went to Westbury Gardens. He proposed to me while we sat down to rest on a bench by the Temple of Love.

It was weird because I just had a feeling it would happen that night...I saw box in his back pocket but I didn't want to think it was the ring

I'm not one for typing long stories, so I will just give the highlights.
we celebrated Valentine's Day on 2/26/05 on a dinner cruise aboard the Le Bateux (not sure of spelling) - We could not get tickets for 2/14. . We got all dressed up for our romantic dinner. There were roses and champagne. He got down on one knee. I cried. Very romantic.

Re: Since it has been a while - How were we all proposed to
We got engaged the day after our 6 month anniversary! We were originally planning on going to the Olive Garden and a movie, but Mike called me at lunchtime and told me that he wanted to go some place on the water, and ask me if I knew of any places. I didn't, so I called my mom to ask her and little did I know until late last night that Mike actually called her that morning telling her that he was going to ask me and this was THE night!! My mom went driving around all day to find places on the water. When Mike arrived at my house, he bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and I ran into my room to finish getting ready. At this time, little did I know that my father and mother were both downstairs and Mike was asking them both for their permission....and of course they gave it to him! We went to Captain Bills in Bay Shore. We had a beautiful table by the water. As soon as we got there, Mike went to go to the bathroom. I noticed he was gone several minuets, but I didn't think anything of it. He comes back and says 'you know they have weddings back there.' I said 'really?' and he said we should go check it out. We walked into a room and walk by the window, he grabbed my arm, pulled out the box and I'm like 'OH MY GOD!' He got down on one knee and said 'Meliss...I love u! Will u marry me!' I EXCITINGLY SAID YES! I was ready to cry and he's like 'please don't cry!' And as I took my other rings off my left hand, he placed the beautiful rock on my finger!! We went back to the table - I couldn't eat or do anything! I was just mesmerizing my rock and my man! Since my mom knew he was going to ask me, Mike told me to call her-So I did and then when we arrived back at my house we were greated by my cousins, Danielle (my maid of honor) and Denise and their kids. My brother had one of his friends over, as did my mom. It was so exciting! Everyone asked me how he did it, and I told them. Then we celebrated with chocolate covered strawberries and champange!! I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect! Going into it, I knew we were getting engaged, because I saw the ring several times (without the diamond). I had a feeling he was going to do it that night, but had no idea when. He definitely took me by suprise even though I was expecting it anyway!!
Its funny because now going back, I see how long it takes a couple to get engaged, and now I joke with my husband and our families, 'uh, 6 months? What took you so long!' Ha!
