Single flower for bridesmaids

I was wondering if you all thought this would be a good idea or not. I wanted the bridesmaids to just carry a single gerbera daisy rather than the full bouquet. I have 7 bridesmaids and the cost for just their bouquets was ridiculous. So now I have come up with the idea for them to just carry one single flower with a satin ribbon around it. My colors are actually exactly what my avatar is. Thanks for your feedback!

Did you try a local florist? I found their prices much more reasonable and went that route.

If you want to go that route I think that would be perfectly fine. Its your day, your $$, do what you like! I think it would look really pretty with the ribbon tied around it.

I like that idea too but what about 3 of them tied with the ribbon? Gerberas are pretty big so if you had 3 of them it would look a lot fuller. I've heard Sam's club has really great prices on flowers as well.

Single flower for bridesmaids

Thanks everyone! I'm actually going through my local stop and shop that does the arrangements for weddings. I was told not all of the stop and shops do it. I am really trying to cut the cost on the flowers because I feel like I'd rather spend that money on my video or DJ.

I like the idea, but I think if you went with one flower,it would need to be a rose or a calla lily..something really dramatic.
Otherwise, I agree that 3 or 5(always an odd number is the 'rule') would be best.

I went to a wedding where the bridesmaids carried a single rose...it was very pretty...I say go for it!

It could also be the flowers in the bouquests that you picked...look into that.

Re: Single flower for bridesmaids

For my brother and SIL's wedding, we all carried a single rose. I thought it looked very pretty and elegant. I'm considering a single stem, as well.

Re: Single flower for bridesmaids

Why not explain the situation to your bridesmaids and have them pay for their own bouquets?

Re: Single flower for bridesmaids

Also Sams Club sells gerberas in bulk.Free shipping too:

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/gerbera-daisies-hot-pink-80-stems/prod4670044.ip

For $80, you can make 7 bouquets with 10 flowers in each. Add some filler like baby's breath or carnations and I think you'd be pleased. Flowers are so important I wouldn't skimp on them. If you're crafty I think you could pull off making your own bouquets. Gerberas are also very hearty so you wouldn't have to work about them wilting too much.
