I have read somewhere that if your single guests are in a serious relationship then you address the invite as Ms. Smith & Guest. Now what do you do if your single guests are not involved with anyone? Do you invite them and a guest of their choice, or do you just invite the single guest? Any and all information will be highly appreciated!!

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
I am inviting anyone single with a guest. I think it is nice that they can bring someone they are close with, not necessarily a bf or gf.

That depends on you.. if it is in your budget and you dont mind you address it Mr John Smith and guest. If you dont want them to bring anyone ( some people even if not in a serious relationship will just find someone to bring) then you only address it Mr John Smith

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
WE invited them with Guest. But, now my dilema is that the single guest sent his response card for himself only. But, I have a feeling that he is bringing someone but, I don't want to ask if he is and make him feel bad if he is not.

I would invite with guest if you have the room. I think it's a nice thing to do.

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
I think you can do either one.. You can offer the option to bring a guest to the single guest. Then it's their decision whether to do so or not.
Sometimes if a person is single, they may prefer not to bring a guest because a wedding can be a good place to meet someone.
Weddings just light those fires... haha
I say.. if it's OK with you, leave them the option to bring a guest or not.

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
I am not inviting anyone with a date who is not married or in a serious relationship. I woudl consider it, if someone did not know ANYONE else, but if there are a few people they know, I would not invite them with a date.

If a friend invited me to a wedding, and I only knew him, I would not go unless it was with a guest. I would feel awkward and alone. Invite with guest if you want the person there.

I cant afford to invite with guest unless married or been in a long term relationship. Plus everyone there, knows eachother one way or another.

I think all adults should always be invited with a guest, regardless of their relationship status.

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
We invited all our single (that is non-married or divorced people) to bring a date. We were short on our guest list. Many did bring a date, however many did not as they had no one in their lives to bring as a date. Now almost 2 years later many are in serious relationships and one of our GM is engaged and planning a 2004 wedding.

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
I personally think it is only right to invite the single people with a guest weither or not they are in a serious relationship Who are you to judge how serious a relationship is ??
Just a little example. Fh's friend was getting married in FL last September he decided to invite FH without a guest. They invited fsil to the wedding with out a guest (she is living with someone) The exuse why I wasnt invited was they didnt know we were in a serious relationship. Lets see we are dating 4 years and got engaged 4 or 5 weeks after your wedding guess we werent serious.. Needless to say FH didn't go..Not only b/c i wasnt invited but b/c this wedding was going to cost him close to 2grand for the weekend.

Re: Single Guest w/ a date or not ???
I am inviting all single guests without a serious other by themselves...I am on a budget and have to watch how many people I invite - everyone more or less knows each other, so it's not a big deal...
