Sirius Radio

I am thinking of getting it for FH's car for his birthday. What do I need to buy? I thought I had to get a docking station but now I don't see it on any of the websites. HELP!

Re: Sirius Radio

i had gotten my fiancee a sirius radio before, i got it at circuit city, i would go there and find out about the whole package deal and any discounts, i'm pretty sure you needed a docking station for the car.

I don't know what you need, but I just wanted to say that my parents have it and it rocks!!

i think you just need to go buy the radio itself... at somewhere like circuit city or best buy.

You need to hook the reciever up to power and an antenna - the power converter and antenna come as a 'docking station' along with a plastic holder you can snap the reciever into.

I have one, but I dont put it into the docking station; I keep the reciever in the cup holder in the center console. This way I can hold it in my right hand while driving and change channels without really looking at it or sitting awkwardly. (I also really dont want to mount something on my dashboard..)

This is the one I have Xact Sirius Reciever My DH got it for me for xmas and said it was about 100.00.

My DH did lots of research, and at that time this was one of the most flexible recievers, with the most options for accessories, like using it as a portable device, home stereo or boom box device.

I got the 'boom box' accessory for my birthday; we will use that out on the deck and in the house as our primary stereo.

While the portable device looks cool, the battery life is only 4 or so hours, and its larger than an IPOD. Maybe if I went to the gym or something like that I would buy it, but I think the boombox device is a better choice for us.

It's great - once you goto satellite radio, you will never listen to broadcast radio again.
