sister in laws as bridesmaids

Are you asking your fsil(s) to be bridesmaids? I feel I do not really know them all that well (only see them at fh family events.) How do I ask them? I have found a few 'Will you be my bridesmaid' cards -but they all say something to the effect of 'our long friendship'. I plan on making my own cards, but I need help with the wording....Any ideas??

I asked my FSIL to be mine. She was very happy about it as well. I am not great with wording so I am sorry I can't help you with that.

I decided to not ask my FSIL. We heard through the grapevine that she was disappointed. But as we near the wedding, I am glad about my decision. I wanted a small wedding party. I made her a reader instead of a BM.

I am having both of my FSIL in my bridal party. I just flat out asked them and they said yes, although I have known them for 10 years +.

I want a small wedding party also. But my FH feel his sisters, sister in law and nieces have to be in the party. Thats how his family does it. I like the idea of making them apart of the day in another way (like readings) thanks for the idea.

Sister in law, as in his brother's wife?

My party is extremely small. My cousin is my MOH and his sister is my one bridesmaid.

FH has 5 sisters and it was impossible to have ALL of them. I only have one brother so FH asked him to be a groomsman and we decided on one sister (the one he is closest with). The others will be doing readings and bringing up the gifts during our mass.

I didnt ask my FSIL. We wanted a small wedding party so I just asked his daughter. I know my FSIL is upset but its my wedding not hers and she has done nothing but comment on everything I do anyway. I am glad I didnt ask her, it probably is the only reason we still talk at family gatherings.

paintbrush91,
I completely understand what you are talking about. Originally I wasn't planning on asking my FSIL to be in my party, mainly bc she lives in FL and I really don't know her too well, but her husband was going to be, and so was my sister and my brother in law. However, I asked my fiance to put my brother in law in...(they're not that close- but he did it for me), and he was fine with me not asking her, since he even said 'you guys barely know each other', but then my future mom in law got involved, and said she thought it was really wrong of me to not ask her, so after discussing it with my fiance, what he did, is he called his brother and asked his opinion and his bro loved the idea, so my fiance actually winded up asking her...hope that helps

I asked my FSIL (my FI's SIL) to be in mine so I could have my brother, who I didn't grow up with and who most of the family doesn't know, to be in the Groom's party - to balance the numbers. Also because I always planned a big BP and I always wanted someone from his side to be in it - that's the way my family does it. Also, I was one of her BMs - although I didn't know it until 3 days before, and I just walked down the aisle, but their wedding was so haphazard anyway

I'm so glad to see this topic because it has been something I've been concerned with too. My fiance has 2 sisters and 1 sister in law, and I was torn about who to have, because I wanted to have my close friends as well. I value my fiances family and their traditions so I will ask his two sisters, but will it be weird if I don't ask his sister in law? (Oh and I should mention that she set us up?) But I'll also say that we are not clsoe AT ALL! Help! I am struggling with what to do!

Did you ask your FH how he feels? I know that I wanted my Brother to be a Groomsman , so Greg asked him. I am having his sister as a BM

I had the same issue with my SIL but I plan on asking her to do a reading.
I felt that although I am very close to my FSILs I really wanted my friends, the people I grew up with and who I share everything with to be by my side!

I am asking my SIL to do a reading and then I am getting all the SILs corsages!
