Tonight I went with my sister, who is my MOH, to get fitted for her dress. This was something I was looking forward to all day. Stupidly, I made the assumption that we would hang out, chat, catch up with each other, and make it a girls' night. In the car she starts calling my cousin's FW to make plans to go out with her. In her words, 'I'm just going with my sister to get fitted for my dress, it shouldn't take long'...I was so hurt b/c she just seems like she totally is not into this whole thing. She is getting over a difficult breakup-- and I know my wedding is difficult for her-- but it still hurts b/c I know that if the shoe was on the other foot, I would be so excited about her getting married...I'm just really hurt by her complete indifference, and I feel like I needed to vent. So, thanks for reading.

Re: Sister rant
Sorry about your sister. sometimes sisters are the best but there are times when they just plain old suck. My little sister is mad because my wedding is in the same year as her sweet sixteen and my older sister just couldnt give a rats a$$ about my wedding. Give yours some time maybe as the breakup gets easier she will become more excited about your wedding. good luck and sorry your evening didnt go as planned.

Sorry about your sister-maybe she hasnt gotten tot he point yet where she is excited! She will probably get more excited when shes a little more over her break up and when the day gets closer.

I am sorry your sister is being a butt. I understand that she is having a hard time, but when a family member or friend is getting married, you are there for them.-No excuses. Your wedding day comes once in a lifetime and she should be enjoying this time with you. I personally would say something like: 'I thought we could hang out and get something to eat. Make this a special night.' Good luck.

Re: Sister rant
Thats too bad
But I guess in her defense, if you never mentioned to her that you wanted to hang out with her, then she wouldn't have really known? I don't know. I'm just hoping there was a reason why she would try to make plans right after the dress fitting without even asking if you wanted to do something with her.........
It will get better! Like the other girls said.....maybe when your wedding gets closer and she is over her break up, she will be more IN TO your wedding
Maybe you can be there for her right now too

I don't have a sister but I know what you mean. I LOVE doing that girly stuff. Chatting, catching up.....I would be totally disappointed too.
On the other hand, maybe she is trying to get over the breakup and she dosen't want to cry. There are times when I just didn't want to cry anymore but couldn't help myself.
I'm sure she will come around.

Re: Sister rant
That just *****. I would have said something to her... like 'Hey...I was hoping we could hang out tonight... what gives?'

I am in the same situation and totally feel your pain. Thankfully the LIW ladies are always around to lend a helpful ear or give advice when the sis can't!

I am sorry about your sister. I am the youngest of three girls and I know what its like. Sometimes sisters have a way of doing that to eachother. Still it is not right that she did that to you. You should tell her how you feel.

sorry to hear that. maybe next time you should plan a 'wedding stuff' day. make it like a sister thing. maybe she didn't realize what you had in mind.

I really should be able to tell her how I feel, but for some reason I feel like I'm walking on eggshells around her. Part of it is that I think everyone in my family thought that she would be getting married first, even though she's younger. We were always so close, and whenever I thought about getting married, I always pictured her as my MOH. Lately though I think our closeness is starting to fade, and it bothers me.
