Skipping Christmas/Hanukkah gifts...

Skipping Christmas/Hanukkah gifts...

Ok I'm a little early but anyway...

Has anyone else decided to 'skip' the holiday gift exchanging with FH while saving for the wedding??

And for those ladies that have done this (maybe last year)...does FH actually listen?? I'm afraid I'll get him a small gift (maybe a book) and he'll end up buying me a regular gift anyway!!!!

We usually in the past spend over $500 on each other for Xmas. He said this year the limit will be $125 and I told him that is way to much!!

All I want is a couple of DVDs and maybe some perfume

We usually do a joint gift and personal gifts. We are only doing the joint gift this year (wii) and then with our tax return we'll make up for the lack of personal gifts with a 50' plasma tv for above our fireplace. SOOOO excited I know we shouldn't cause that's a wedding dress right there, but we are having super bowl next year and it's a must.

We havent discussed it...but christmas will definitely be scaled back for the next two years. We usually spend more than a $1,000 on each other and that money needs to be saved for the wedding or honeymoon now. Besides...now that I have my ring...there isnt anything else I really want!

we set a limit of only $100 this year

I am going to try to talk him into keeping it under $100 this year but I dont think he will listen to me...
Normally he spends between $500-$1000 on my for christmas/my birthday (a week before xmas)

We are doing small gifts or maybe taking a ski trip. We are cutting down who we buy for though in an effort to save money.

I'm your much much older twin!!

There are so many young brides on here!!!! I'm happy I had all of the experiences I did, but part of me wishes I met FH 10 years ago!!!!

I told FH that I don't think we should give eachother gifts. I suggested to take the money we'd spend on a gift for one another and put it into the wedding fund.

He better listen cause I don't want a gift.

I actually am not buying anyone gifts this year.
