Skipping your period...BC question

So I didn't take my sugar pills this month so that I would get my period a week earlier and not get my period for the wedding....is spotting and cramps normal? I've never done this before!!

Thanks girls!

Re: Skipping your period...BC question

Everyone reacts differently to the BC pill. When I skip I usually dont spot, but I do get cramps. However, spotting is normal as well. It'll probably happen for a few days to a week, sometimes you'll notice when you pee and wipe that its still a little discolored (sorry for the TMI). But I skip mine pretty often and my body is fairly used to it now, so usually I dont spot or cramp too much anymore.

ETA: When you say that you 'didnt take your sugar pills this month' so you would get it a week earlier....normally when you skip you just go straight to a new pack -- is this what you did?? If you did, then you shouldnt get your period at all. It shouldnt come earlier at all, it'll just skip this month and you'll get it next month at your normal time. If you did something other than that, it could explain the spotting.

I think so b/c your body still reacts like it's going to get your period. I did the same thing to change my cycle and the first time I was breaking out and cramping when I shouldn't get my period, but my body is back on it's cycle

I am glad I am not the only one whom is doing this? I am scheduled to get my period the wed before my wedding. I am trying to figure out a way to push back my period so i do not get the week of the wedding or my HM.
How exactlky would I do this? How many times would I have to do it to make sure It doenst come wihthin those two weeks?

I figured how I wouldn't get my period and just changed the cycle months earlier (just in case there was any problems and to get my body used to the new cycle). I would only have to change it by one week so I got my period the week I normally do then didn't start the pill the following Sunday... I waited ANOTHER week then started the cycle and now my body is used to it. If that makes sense.

You can do it just once. After you finish the three weeks, start a new patch. You would have already be a week ahead of where you would have been if you took things normally.

Thanks that makes sense, I think I am going to do it in the next couple of months.

So you just take the first pill of a new pack when you would normally start taking the sugar pills, right?

i think you can skip/adjust your period bunch of different ways.

i've heard doctors recommend skipping your placebo pills and starting a new pack the week of your wedding if you're supposed to get it then...

my doctor told me to skip my period the month before the wedding, by skipping the placebo pills and starting a new pack, just in case i do have some cramps or side affects, i wouldn't have to deal with it the week of the wedding.

also, by doing this i would be getting my period a week earlier than usual, so i'll feel 'thinner' and not bloated during the wedding since i'll have had my period the week before?

but you can do it a number of different ways i think?
