anyone else experience sleep paralysis? i have experienced it for as long as i can remember...
'Sleep paralysis is a condition in which someone, most often lying in a supine position, about to drop off to sleep, or just upon waking from sleep realizes that s/he is unable to move, or speak, or cry out. This may last a few seconds or several moments, occasionally longer. People frequently report feeling a 'presence' that is often described as malevolent, threatening, or evil. An intense sense of dread and terror is very common. The presence is likely to be vaguely felt or sensed just out of sight but thought to be watching or monitoring, often with intense interest, sometimes standing by, or sitting on, the bed.' from: http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P.html

Re: sleep paralysis
Yes! Scared the ever living SHIIT out of me! Happened often when I was younger though - In high school. Has not happened in over 10 years but I remember it VERY clearly. I could SWEAR that my bedroom door was opening and that SOMETHING was pulling my sheets off me! I could FEEL IT! Then after screaming at myself in my head I would finally be able to move only to realize that my door was not open and my sheets have not moved.
The mind is flucking powerful! AND SCARY!! I am still totally afraid of the dark and I'm going to be 30 in July!

Re: sleep paralysis
yes and when i do experience it - i experience it in bursts. . .like maybe three times in one week but then it won't happen for another few months. I hate it and it can literally ruin my entire day
I thought it was just me - but one of FH's friends started talking about it one day so I realized I wasn't crazy. . . he had it so bad though that whenever we would talk about it - he would experience it THAT night so I could never bring it up with him/

Re: sleep paralysis
I've had that happen, it's sooooooo scary. Only a few times tho really when Kevin and I used to live in our apartment, it never happened before then and hasn't happened since we've moved into our house.
Tho I never felt a 'prescence', it was just that I couldn't move. I hope it never happens again, it's not a nice feeling not being able to call out to him for help!!

Yes; I've experienced it way too often, though lately I've had a break from it. It started for me about 7 or 8 years ago. It's terrifying but I now try to breathe my way out of it. If I freak out, I'm 'seized' for much longer (even though I know it's happening over seconds and not minutes).

I feel as though I can't really breath when that happens... I haven't had one on a while, and I don't really want to have one anytime soon.. So freaky...

Re: sleep paralysis
I think this is what DH has experienced. He used to call me and tell me that he had woken up like 10 times in a row from a nap but couldn't talk or move..it confused the crap out of him b/c he was never really sure if he was *really* awake
