How did you go about getting your baby on a sleep schedule, and how old were they when you started? My daughter had been having her days and nights mixed up, now it seems that she only falls asleep if you hold her. I don't want to start bad habits, although I think she's too young too get spoiled by being held. Also, did you find swaddling helped the sleep and did you have any lights or noise during sleep time?
TIA!

Re: Sleep schedules
First let me start by saying your daughter is gorgeous!
My son is almost 4 months old now and JUST getting on some sort of schedule. I was asking lots of advice, so I am not really one to give any because it took forever to get my son on some sort of schedule. The only thing that works for us now is to read the signs. When he yawns or rubs his eyes, we put him in his crib before he starts fussing. I know your daughter is too young for this. Some people suggest putting the babies back in their cribs about 1 1/2 to 2 hours after eating.
My son was a horrible sleeper in the fact that he also needed to be rocked and held to fall asleep. We finally broke down and put him in his crib two weeks ago for naps with a pacifier and although he cried, we stood by and didn't give up. We stayed with him and picked him up when he needed, but put him back in his crib... and didn't give up until he finally fell asleep. He has finally, this week, learned how to put himself to sleep in the crib without crying. Maybe you can try putting her in the crib and staying there until she falls asleep. Pick her up and rock her until she is almost asleep, then put her back down, etc. I really think it depends on the child. Maybe this will work. Some of the books I have read suggest putting the baby in the crib just before he/she is fully asleep, that way they realize they are falling asleep 'in' the crib and not by being held.
Also, my son LOVED being swaddled and the blanket that worked wonders was the miracle blanket. I highly recommend it. miracle blanket

Re: Sleep schedules
White nose ALWAYS worked for us, and muy daughter was slightly colicy. They have great little machine on 'a step ahead' website, I bought the shell fo my SIL. She's definitely too young for a schedule, give it a few weeks and enjoy holding her while you can, it goes so fast!

Re: Sleep schedules
My son ws the same way when he was born. He would sleep all day, and we could not wake him up no matter what we did, and then be up half the night. We had to hold him to get him to sleep. Plus he would not sleep in his cradle. As soon as we would put him down he would wake up and scream. He slept in his bouncy sleep for almost a month and a half. Now thank goodness, we hold him until he almost falls asleep and put him down. This has been working for us for the past week. We put him down at about 9:00pm and he will wake at 4:00 AM for a feeding. Go back asleep and wake up at 9:00 AM. Tomorrow he will be 2 months.
I basically did whatever it took to get him asleep. I didn't care and figured he is too yound to be spoiled. Good luck to you.
