My FBIL got engaged at the end of August, and they're looking at RHs now. They're a bit older than us (he is 31, and she is 32) so they want to get married ASAP. They decided they'd want to get married in June or October next year. Well now, he's complaining about how we want to go on a long honeymoon, because they could get a good deal for one a weekend in Sept but we'd have to cut our honeymoon short for them to pick it...umm no! Not to mention having 2 weddings within a few weeks of each other puts a lot on the mutual guests....

Re: Slightly annoyed
Ugh I'm sorry. Its really hard to be excited and supportive of someone else's wedding when their plans are looking to fringe on the ones you've already made and spent a good deal of time putting together.

Re: Slightly annoyed
AHHH! i dont understand why people have to be so rude, i could and would never ask anyone to cut their HM short because now i am getting married and you have to do what i want.
and like you said what they are doing to the rest of your family now having two weddings so close to eachother.
on the bright side at least yours is first.
our friends got engaged months after us and are having a DW right before ours..... needless to say our shared friends (especially the ones in our WP) arent too drilled to be having to spend soooo much money in such a short time frame.

Ugh, that's so annoying! I'm sorry-I hope you don't have to cut it short for their wedding, I'm sure they can get a good deal another time!

Re: Slightly annoyed
Well they won't do it in August because it's his FH's best friend's wedding then, so no worries about a wedding just before ours! I told him that we would NOT be cutting it short, and his mom isn't going to let him. But I just can't believe how rude it is that he even said that to me!!
They also got a good deal in November, so I told him to do that instead! He doesn't want to because it's on his B-day.

well at least you have your fmil on your side too
as for the bday thing, when your older then 25 bdays dont count anymore unless its your 30th, 40th and so on and thats only if someone else plans them lol so tell him to get over it lol

Re: Slightly annoyed
That's so inconsiderate of them! If they're in such a hurry, why don't they have it in the winter or spring?

Re: Slightly annoyed
Maybe they should try another venue to get a better deal instead of asking you that.

Sorry you're having to deal with that.. I think that's very inconsiderate. I would never ask someone else to change their plans for me/us.

Re: Slightly annoyed
You better stand your ground and take WHATEVER honeymoon you want. You have been planning since May and therefore it is up to you - if your FBIL and FSIL really need to have it that weekend then you wont be there and that is by THEIR choice NOT yours :)

Re: Slightly annoyed
this is just ridiculous. you can always find a great deal on a vacation somewhere if you look hard enough - no need to encroach on someone else's big day, especially his sister!

???
I'm not sure what you mean here. I don't think it's unfair for me to be upset that I would only be able to go on a HM for a week (when we would be spending $2000pp to go where we plan on going, and 20 hours on a plane). His brother got an even better deal in November at the same venue so if money was truly the issue, they should be getting married then.

Re: Slightly annoyed
Maybe she thought he was referring to a deal on his honeymoon.
Where is the venue they are looking at?

I think/hope you misunderstood what she was saying. She never said she couldnt find a great deal on a vacation, and were talking honeymoon not just ANY vacation, instead her issue is they want HER to cut her HM short because THEY found a deal at an RH. If thats not pure ridiculousness I dont know what is.

I agree Barb.
Why is it not ok for you to get in the way with their big day but it is ok for them to get in the way with your big day?
Look... I could understand if there was a budget reason but if the price is truly the same a month or two later then it is not about the budget!

Re: Slightly annoyed
I would seriously laugh in their faces if they asked me to cut my honeymoon short so they could save some money. It's not a random vacation, it's your HONEYMOON!

I really hope you read Barbs post wrong. Asking someone to cut short their already planned Honeymoon for your wedding that hasn't been booked yet???? Not to mention getting married 3 WEEKS after your sister????
Barbara, DUH! You should completely change your entire honeymoon for the convenience of someone who can book their wedding for whenever they want.
