I was wondering if I should wear a slip with my A-line dress to give it a little more fullness the day of the wedding. Is this necessary and or does anyone have experiences with this?

Re: Slip?
i think it depends on how full you want it...i have seen girls wear the slip or not wear the slip...do you want it to look full?

Re: Slip?
when you get your dress, try it onw ith a slip and without, take a picture of both and then decide! slips dont take a long time to get!

Re: Slip?
Try it on and see. I tried my dress on with and without a slip and I reallly like how the slip makes it look (altho its ALOT of dress)...It makes it look a little bit fuller

Re: Slip?
I have a fitted full line slip that i used. It is flat on top and then gradually poofs out a tad bit. I think it gives a dress more life unless you have crinoline all ready in it.

Re: Slip?
get one you think you like BEFORE your first fitting.....i wish i would have done this....
i did not purchase anything b/c i was under the impression that at my first fitting the seamstress would help me chose the right under garments (i was under that assumption b/c that is what the bridal salon told me - that i would purchase the slip and anything else the day of my first fitting)....
so i go to my first fitting and i ask what kind of slip - she says ill get it - she comes back with a one size fits all drawstring slip and told me that was all they had - i am a size 0 so it was huge on me - it was ridiculous and i was annoyed because i wanted a full slip for my dress - in hindsight i should have have just left and rescheduled but my mom was there (from florida) and it was her first time seeing me in the dress so i just went ahead with the fitting - by the end the slip was hanging out the bottom of the dress.....i wanted to have the slip sewn in so i wouldnt have to worry about it falling off (i know lots of people who had this done) and they told me NO they don't do that and wont do that....
i went for my second fitting and figured id just nix the slip and see how it looked without one - a lot of girls told me they didnt wear one and they were fine...during the fitting i felt okay without it - and since there were so many other issues with the dress i was like whatever about it - then when i got home i compared pics from my first fitting with the slip and my second without the slip and i def like it better with the slip....
so i went out and decided to get my own slip - which i should have done from the start - i bought two - one i am in love with but im not sure if it will fit under my dress b/c its a ball gown slip - may have to remove some crinoline from it - but its what i originally wanted - i go for my third fitting next week and now my hem is going to be too short because im going to have poofy slip but i really want to wear the full slip - so i'll see what happens
if your bridal salon doesnt have a selection for you to chose from, get one before your fitting and bring it - its better to have one and not use it then to go through what i am going through right now

Re: Slip?
I tried dress on without slip, then small slip then much fuller slip...
wasnt sure about dress until slip went in that 'fluffed' out dress a bit which showed more of the detailing. I will have to try it on again when it comes in.
NOt sure where to buy my slip (dont want to pay too much. Im guessing bridal stores it would be oh so much $$)....any thoughts ladies??

Re: Slip?
Yeah I have an a-line gown, so I guess if I get a slim slip it would maybe just add a bit more fullness to the dress. I also want to save some $, where did you guys get yours from? Read some stuff about ebay. Thanks

Re: Slip?
i found slips at davids bridal for around 50 bucks - you can try them on at the store but you cant return them (at least at the two stores i went to) they come in a bunch of sizes - im really really tiny - like a 22.5 inch waist and they carried a size 2 and it fit me....they have a few different kind, i bought two - one a-line and one ball gown - i prefer the ball gown but not sure how it will work with my a- line dress

The ball gown slip should work fine with your dress. When I think of A Line I don't think of your dress. The ball gown slip will def make your skirt fuller. It will give it life.
And with the amount of money that Macy's charges for alterations (you got it at Macy's, right?), they better fix your hem, since they messed up in the first place. Stand your ground. It's a gorgeous dress and you deserve to look gorgeous in it.
