Hello all, My finace and I don't want and xtravagant wedding however I would like what ever it is that we are doing to be as elegant and well put together as possible can. Our invite list will be about 20 people but will never make over 30 guests. Their are little requirements that we have:
-Small -Get married in a church -Having our closest family members with us -Having a hand select of closest friends with us -Dinner reception
The elegance part is what I selected. Anything that I do no matter how big or small it has to me memorable, perfect and well put together.
I never thought I would be planning my own wedding. I am in need of ideas, from A-Z so that this day can be elegant and flawless. Obviously I wont do the same things as a larger wedding, thats why I need your help.

What help do you specifically need? Venue? Florist? Whether to have music? This board is incredibly helpful, and I personally would love to help as well but I find that asking specific questions is usually most helpful

Re: Small (Intimate) Elegant Wedding
Thanks for the tip! I just got engaged 2 weeks ago and started the official planning today.
Currently, I am working on the ceremony. Being as it will be such a small group Im trying to figure things that I can do to not make the ceremony look for lack of a better word 'stupid'. The church aisile is long so I would like to know how to actually carry off the walk down aisile.
2nd on my list are venue for reception: I need a venue, it could be a restaurant that will allow me to do what is it that I want.
I would keep the bridal party small. Maybe even just do a maid of honor and best man since you're only inviting 20 people.
You're wedding sounds nice and stress-free. Congrats!

Prefer Nassau or the bigining part of Suffolk. But if I find the perfect place, it doesnt matter.
Due to the size of the guest list I will be placing everyone in a limo so they wont have to worry about driving :)

my brother and SIL had only like 15 people at their wedding- by far the most beautiful and elegant ive ever been too. had a sunset ceremony in the gazebo and gourmet dinner and top-shelf wine reception at jebidiah hawkins (old victorian mansion out in wine country). the place is gorgeous- all the different rooms are breath taking. then they had us all up to thier top-floor suite- AMAZING.

Re: Small (Intimate) Elegant Wedding
Do you have a specific church in mind? Some churches (like mine - St. Frances de Chantal in Wantagh) have a separate chapel area off of the main area that would be perfect for a small wedding. A small group of people would fill up the space more. If that's not an option, you'll want to ask your ushers to make sure people all sit in the first 5 or so rows. Maybe they can keep the lights off on the back of the church so it will seem more intimate. Ooooh, candles on the end of the pews (they have pillars that screw onto the pews) would look awesome, and just do candlelight! I wouldn't worry about the long aisle - you're still the bride and deserve the attention for that minute or two it will take you!

To all, I am so excited, reading your posts and everyone elses I am elated
I am not limited to having my reception in LI, I am open to manhattan as well if anyone has any idea please feel free to pass along
As for my walk I decided to have few guests stand in the aisle with flowers as I make my walk down the aisle. what do you think? Cause now I am convinced to make the walk down the entire aisle
All ideas are welcome

I know that the Sans Souci of Sea Cliff will accomodate a party of 25 people. Their food is supposed to be excellent and it is right on the water and quite pretty. ( check out photos in my album ' Rh's I've visited).
