So a bunch of my friends from college are invited to my wedding. One of them always caused too much trouble for us, but he was really funny and usually left us out of it when he got in trouble, so we still hung out with him. Recently, he's been really rude to some of my friends, including 2 of my bridesmaids. Out of the 10 of us 5 are on bad terms with him and the other other 5 haven't spoken to him in a while. I sent him a STD, but due to recent events, I decided to not invite him to my wedding. I sent him a text to explain my decision. I know it's totally improper etiquette, but if he did show up - I wouldn't even know where to sit him. He also has a bit of a problem limiting himself around alcohol. He makes a huge scene all the time and it's not something I want at my wedding.
Vent over. I feel a little bad doing this, but I know this is for the best. I haven't seen or talked to him in over a year anyway.

Small vent - need reassurance
I think you did the right thing. You shouldn't have to worry about the guests at your wedding ruining the day. It was nice that you sent him the heads up anyways.

Sweetie you did the right thing....if more people are going to be uncomfortable vs. okay with him around and ESPECIALLY if there is a chance for a scene...you don't want that at your wedding...
I do think you should talk to him in person or letter or phone call though vs. text message....text doesn't seem proper for something like 'I'm sorry you aren't invited to my wedding'....ya know?
BUT you did the right thing!

Thanks! I just that I haven't talked to him in over a year and I think he blocked me on facebook. I doubt he's pick up the phone for me. Honestly, I think the only reason he would come at this point is to make a scene and make my wedding less pleasant for me.

You did the right thing by not inviting him. You wanted to be nice at first but if its coming down to your bridesmaids being unghappy with him than its not worth it - they are much closer to you than he is so you are doing the right thing for everyone. So what if you send him the STD? That was before all this happened & you still have every right not to invite him - & for good reason too! Don't worry about etiquette, I dont think he has any anyway!

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. I feel so much pressure to do everything 'right,' when it comes to the wedding. It's nice to have some real-life brides to encourage me!
