Small wedding - help!

Hello everyone,

My boyfriend and I decided that while we were in NY for Christmas that we'd go ahead and do some reception hall investigating. We'll probably only have about 80 - 100 guests at our reception so we checked out 3 places that we knew could accommodate small parties. One was the George Washington Manor which was nice but a little pricey. The other was the Swan Club which we loved but the minimum for the one room was 100 people which we may not make. Lastly, we checked out the Milleridge Inn which had a room that was the perfect size, the price was right, but I didn't like the fact that it's not the greatest place for photo ops. I know there are other Milleridge brides out there, so maybe you can tell me what you thought of your pics and if you took pictures somewhere other than at the Milleridge.

Does anyone know of any other places in Nassau or close to it that can accommodate small receptions? I've asked this before but I thought maybe the girls who have recently joined LI Weddings would have some good info.
P.S. I've already called Sans Souci and the Riverview and their minimums are too high for a May wedding.

NYlisa and I are having our receptions on the same day at Manor East.

It doesnt have lavish gardens, (check out the newlywed board for wedding photo's posted by Novemberbride - she too was a manor east bride) and it doesnt have grounds, but what it does have is affordability, fantastic food, great service and so so much more and the price is beyond right

What about Crest Hollow? I'm not sure, but I think they have TONS of different rooms.

(edited to say it is in suffolk co, so I dont know if it will work)

What about the watermill? (also in suffolk county though...)

I got married at the Fox Hollow, and the grounds are beautiful, there are lots of areas for photo ops. Plus everything else about them was perfect too. They have a smaller winter garden room which is so pretty, and I think the minimum might be what you are looking for.

I am getting married at Fox Hollow it really is gorgeous there! Here is the link for it.

The Winter Garden room holds up to 180 people not sure what the required minimum is! But you can't go wrong with a Scotto Bros place! good luck

I went to school at Dowling college so it'd be weird to get married there! They do have beautiful grounds though, and the ballroom is really nice too. I may look at the Fox Hollow although I'm sure I've been to a wedding there already. I think my cousin got married there. Call me a brat but I want to be original! The Watermill is a little far.....

I'd thought about Manor East but I really want to have a good place for taking pictures. To me, the pictures are just as important if not more important than the reception hall itself. I know, I'm being picky.........

If pics is your concern, I'd definatly check out Crest Hollow!!! They have gorgeous grounds there!

Manor East is really different. We're taking our pictures at a park and some at the hall. No one would know the difference except us. Its a background and years from now when we look at our pictures all we are going to look at is how wonderful our day was.

Westbury Manor- has gardens outside for pictures and different sized rooms so they might be good for you.

I know a lot of people that take their pictures at the Milleridge. You can shoot in the village as well as the gardens by the cottage and at the fountain in the front.

You want grounds, right???? What about Westbury Manor??? It is gorgeous there! They have 2 or 3 rooms, again, not sure of required minimum.

We are having about 85 guests at our wedding and our reception hall is the Three Village Inn. The price was great and the place is wonderful. Has kind of an old inn, bed and breakfast feel. The Inn is right across from the harbour so we are taking pictures there as well as around the immediate town, which is small and quaint and had a duck pond. We seen wedding pictures done there and it was beautiful, but definately wasn't a total floral garden theme if thats what you are looking for. Good luck planning!!!!

The Nautical Princess is really nice. It sails form Freeport. I was at a wedding there, and liked it. we considered it, but we had too many people

Our reception is at The Beach Club Estate in Lake Ronkonkoma. I know that is in Suffolk County & not Nassau sorry. Our minimum was 80 for a Saturday day wedding. Think the minimum is 100 for a Saturday evening. The grounds are beautiful. There is a gazebo, a large fountain and a small waterfall and it is all right on the shore of a lake. The grounds are great for pics.

A cruise is actually a great idea-I know the Lauren Kristy I believe it is sails out of Bayshore and is nice! Have no clue on pricing though....
I was going to suggest the GWM but you mentioned you thought it was pricey. Anything for May probably will be!! Would you consider another time of year? You should also check out Captain Bills in Bayshore-they have a lovely banquet room. Also, I would second someone's suggestion for the FOX HOLLOW they could probably accomodate that many people in one of their smaller rooms. They are probably just as much, if not more $$$ than the GWM. As far as photo ops-for Milleridge-the outside is beautiful behind the atrium (sp?!) OR you could go to the Planting Fields Arbaretum which is not far @ all. I just don't know what your time frame is. Hope this helps a little!

I have to agree with Karen about The Three Village Inn it is really beautiful!!! We are getting married at The Meadow Club of Port Jefferson. I know they have what you are looking for. Althought both of these places may be too far for you!
