smaller weddings - please help

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I have been on since my wedding on 3/15/03 - and now I am on again because my sister has asked me to be her MOH!

Anyways, she is doing this really classy smaller wedding - like 65 people - and I am trying to help her come up with ideas. Are their any brides on the list who are having smaller weddings in off beat locations?

They are thinking of doing a lovely dinner, with a trio playing classical music, with a small dance floor for the obligatory slow dances - - and great atmosphere. Something fun, yet classy where my sis will feel like a princess.

Who can help??

I am having a smaller wedding, we have to pay for 75, but now we are trying to keep the list down to about 70 if possible. We are having a Jnauary wedding, at the George Washington Manor. We are having a string trio play at our candleight ceremony, the reception room has fireplaces, even in the bathroom. I dont know if its your idea of classt, but its EXACTLY what we wanted. Theres even a beautiful fireplace in the womans bathroom!!

We'r ehaving about 80 people at our wedding and we're attempting to make the music make everyone get up and dance. Also, we are splurging on the food and making sure that it will tempt even the most bland palate. Sometimes a cozy atmosphere, great music and food will be all that's needed!

I agree. Although I have a big guest list (unfotunately) I think a wedding doesn't have to be full of miscellaneous faces to be a good day. If you can plan a day that you & your guests will be sure to enjoy, then you will have a great day!

unfortunately, finding a hall in NY to accommodate less than 100 people may be hard. Try looking on weddingsitesandservices.com.

I also think that the East Wind has some smaller rooms available for some weddings, I know that they have the country gardens, but I also think that they built some new rooms in the Inn that can accomidate smaller parties. I am dealing with Michelle Ryan and I love working with her. Give her a call she will help you anyway she can I am sure.

I hoping for 50 guests only .. may come up to 70

Our place has fireplaces in the cocktail area, bar & ballroom..

I wanted to keep it warm.. in every sense of the word.

The Three Village Inn, George Washinton Manor, Milleridge Cottage, Meadow Club and the Watermill had great rooms for smaller weddings.

Good luck!!!

My father got married at Westbury Manor last year with the same ideas you have in mind. They had a room not typically used for weddings. It was the sun room off the restaurant area. They had a small area cleared for light dancing and they had a small little band there. They had about 65 people. It was very intimate and everything was wonderful. It was very classy and a wonderful atmosphere.

Depending on budget and probably other factors, she might consider a place in the city. There are lots of smaller venues in Manhattan - old mansions that can be rented out, etc.
