I have a resume but I really want to perfect it and make it look more appealing. Any advice?
What font I should use?
Also the order ...
I hear for education majors that an objective is not needed.
Should be: Heading Education Certification Teaching Experience
any advice?????

guidance counselor... so i guess that's close enough
Times New Roman or Arial, 10-pt font. I had 1/2 inch margins, single spaced. Use the same font for your cover letter, but use 12-pt font and single space it. Use resume paper (you can get it in Staples, Ofice Max, etc).
GOOD LUCK!!

Re: NWR: RESUME FONT
I'm a teacher. I used Times New Roman on my resume. I really didn't stress about the font that much, just the format. My resume is almost 3 pages long because of all the committees I am on and after school/ summer school jobs I have had.

Ok great! No objective right?
Also, I was recently asked (by my principal) to give a professional development presentation for the entire staff at my school? Focusing on what assessments Ive been using and co teaching. Can I add that?
I was thinking of adding it under professional acknowledgments ...
or professional accomplishments?
any ideas???

BW the order is perfect. You may want to add another section if you've had a lot of other non-teaching jobs but have experiences applicable to teaching. If you belong to any professional organizations, add those too. If your GPA rocked (over 3.5) and/or you were in any honor societies, definitely add those too.

Re: NWR: RESUME FONT
I stated my objective in my cover letter. I did this because for each school I applied to, I took a different approach. For instance, if they school specializes in technology, I talked up my qualities working with technology. If they were big on professional development, I talked about all of the pd's I have given and all of the information I have turnkeyed.
I think you can put the pd you are giving under accomplishments. I am trying to think of a better title for this section, but my mind is blank at the moment.

You have convinced me to start revamping my resume. I currently teach in Staten Island and am looking for a job anywhere in Long Island.
