Snide remarks about your registry?

Snide remarks about your registry?

Has anyone made snide remarks to you or your family about your registry? (where you registered, what you registered for, etc?)

no remarks to us (yet?) athough we just added 2 expensive bedding sets and a dyson. i'd love to register for bathing suits and stuff at macy's but I know that's not the kind of stuff you're supposed to register for

i know random people cant seem to help giving their opinions about wedding planning, etc so i figured there might be some wacky stories out there re: registries

we did register for a specific ice bucket at BBB and then have someone buy us a different one ($5 cheaper, different design) -- did they think we were being frivilous by asking for the silver one that matched the rest of our stuff?

My mom has made remarks like, oh you dont really need that. Thats too expensive, you'll never use that.. so on and so on.

no. but i got snide remarks from fh's side about having an e-party (that my parents threw for us) which pissed me off to no end. So when I registered i deliberately registered at Macys (where his cousin works so they could ALL get a discount) and BBB even though I would have loved to do C&B and Williams Sonoma also. So there better be no snide remarks!

most $$$ i think is also the dyson and i didn't even get the crazy $$$ one... i think i got the $399 one.

yeh, mostly its been family that have made remarks, like why did I register for this item and not that item, etc... its annoying, but being me, I explained to them nicely why FH and I chose what we chose.

She tells me that people won't buy any of the expensive things...and what she means by expensive is anything that costs more than $30 which is about 3/4 the registry. Other than the fine china, I have 3 items over $200, and maybe 5 or 6 things between $100-$200...the rest is all under $100...I think that's a very reasonable registry.

So I tell my mom, if she thinks both families are that cheap she shouldn't spend a lot of money on the bridal shower...have it at a pizzeria for all i care!

Actually yes !
My older guests at first were very upset I did not register for china ( I have recently) right away

Another 'friend ' made a comment about where I registered and said I am expecting too much from people.

she didn't even look at my registry, she just assumed that everything was going to be SO expensive until I explained to her that I have things from 3$ to 500$

my mom keeps trying to get us to register for a coffee maker. Neither of us drink coffee, we dont really entertain that often and when we do people want alcohol and not coffee.

If our registry really runs out of items we might add one down the road, but we'd rather people buy us the stuff we actually want and would use! we don't need a coffee maker and dont really have the space

YES ! my china is pretty expensive and FMIL made a few comments about changing it , but I love it and if I don't get any of it I will eventually complete the set myself. I did however make sure to put a variety of price ranges on the registry so people can find things in the price range they like.

Yup! It was mainly because they felt they could find the same items at a better price elsewhere.

We have had some, sort of.....moreso people saying, oh well they just give you a gun now so people will register for anything! it's like a shopping spree!

Also the not registering for china thing. but we didn't cave on that one....

I figure if nobody buys us the dyson, we're allowed at least 1 ridiculous thing....and maybe some people will chip in! If not, we get a discount afterwards when we buy it!

WOW for $5 are they serious. See thats what i really don't get, why buy something that isnt on your registry rather than buying something else that is $5 less and on your registry that you want

LOL I know! they got us a black (ugly) ice bucket for $19.99 and we registered for a pretty silver one for $24.99. Once you use a 20% off coupon the difference is so small! (I think it was coupled with something else, but I don't remember)

THEN, since the silver one didnt get checked off someone else bought us that one!

Luckily BBB has a great return policy. We definitely had other things on our registry for $19.99. It's possible they remembered we wanted an ice bucket and didnt pay attn to which one?

I havent heard any snide remarks yet...but we did register for $500 Henkels knives! LOL!

I told FH he is crazy and that no one will buy it but he insisted.

omg YES!!!! my effin FBIL out of all the people!!!!

why would you register for so many expensive things??? umm because: 1. we were told too.. wayyyyyy too many of parents close friends, and we didn't want to come across as wanting 'silly' things 2. we're having more than 400 people.. so we need to put stuff on there 3. because we liked it 4. it's how our community operates

i was so pissed off at him and his el cheapo as$.. don't even get me started on what he told us after we gave him a $600 gift for his second marriage!!!..
