Anyone see this? Funny thing is after her first set we had enough and were like, is she? could she be lipsyncing? So ddin't get to see second set... but thanks to the internet we do! LOL

I agree....I think she showed a tremendous amount of immaturity and unprofessionalism.
I know this is going to sound odd, but hopefully her big sister Jessica can pass along a few words of wisdom on this matter.

DH and I were watching. It used to be that on SNL performers were not allowed to lipsync. I remember watching Fiona Apple sound like a$$, but at least she was actually singing. I am so tired of these 'pop stars' that have a look and no talent. If you can't sing live you should find something else to do with your life!!!!!!

I seriously believe I could be a pop star with all the background vocals & sh!t on these songs today ... it's pathetic that they are recording artists, pop stars but none of them are SINGERS!!!

This is what I read in CNN about 'backing vocals'? 'Her record company, Geffen Records, said there was a computer glitch. Instead of some pretaped electronic percussion, the recording of 'Pieces of Me' started mistakenly performing, the record company said in a statement.
But it sounded suspiciously like a guide vocal that's a common -- although almost always unspoken -- concert aid. Either the singer 'lip synchs' by mouthing words to a backing tape or has a live microphone and sings along to the tape, making the voice sound more powerful than it is.
Such vocal tricks have been used before on the show, making 'Saturday Night Live' not entirely live, said a show insider who spoke on condition of anonymity.
A Geffen spokeswoman did not immediately return a call for comment.'
Interesting. I mean, when I watched her show (yes, I admit it), her voice really was awful. I'm not surprised.

I have done a show where they had backing vocals. They were used in one section of the show where the dancing was extremely high energy. I do understand it for some performers shows(Madonna,Britany,Janet Jackson), but Ashlee was standing there singing. Like I said earlier Spears lipsynced her first # on the show because it was a heavy dance #. Her second song she actually sang.
We also had the option of lipsyncing if we were vocally ill. We did 12 shows a week sometimes and never once did I use my click track. People were paying to see a live performance. If I was unable to sing then my understudy went on. I'm sorry , but this stuff really irritates the he!! out of me as a performer. I know so many people that are amazing performers and struggle to make a living. I just wish sometimes that people would be more supportive of live music.

i think if a shows called saturday night LIVE she should sing LIVE/......... but if it was the fault of an SNL crew member i fel bad for her... but blaming her band was so low.
