So adorable...
So I asked FH to write up something for our wedding website... and since cash is tight with saving for the wedding - we were SUPPOSED to give it to one another as Valentine's Day presents. He just emailed me his today from work! Lol. It is too adorable! But, he mentions things in there that I doubt would be appropriate for our entire family to know... Tell me what you think... should I ask him to edit it a bit?
The most interesting part about when I first met Maura is that I announced to everyone (including her boyfriend at the time,) that we’d be walking down the aisle together. What I didn’t realize at that moment (except, perhaps in my subconscious,) is that we’d be walking down the aisle in our own wedding. Brought together by a combination of fate and height, we were partnered together for the wedding of our mutual friends.
I had been out drinking earlier that night and ended up at our friend’s the T's place where Maura was. In my inebriated state I approached Maura and introduced myself stating, for the first of many times, that we’d be walking down the aisle together. This was the first portion of our meeting one another.
Part II takes place in New York City at the CBGB’s Lounge. I was playing a show with my band at the time and Maura had come to see us play with the Ts. After we played, I was given the job of getting names for the band's mailing list. When I got to Maura, we immediately began talking and she started right in with her copious knowledge of football (the Eagles in particular).
The following day I called the singer of the band and had him find Maura’s email so I could send her a message, opening up the lines of communication. After several clumsy and awkwardly written drafts, I realized how uncool it would be to try and pick up a girl via email and decided that patience was the key.
Part III of our story finds us at the T's house for a Memorial Day BBQ. I had to stop before we got there to purchase a new hat due to an incredibly bad hair cut. Knowing Maura liked the Jets I tried to find a suitable Jets cap but ended up with a green Notre Dame hat instead. Upon arriving at the BBQ I learned that Maura had recently become single and got right to work. Maura and I talked for hours that night on the porch where I asked her to be my date for the wedding we were already partnered up for. Later that evening we shared our first kiss in the T's living room where we fell asleep on their couch.
The next few months flew past with regular phone calls on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. When I finally saw Maura again, after all those intimate moments and long phone conversations, we barely said a thing to each other. Awkward. Finally, we passed while traveling to and from the bathroom apologized to one another, each taking equal blame for the awkwardness.
Two and a half years later, I find myself sitting next to Maura watching the improbable victory of the New York Giants over the unstoppable Patriots in the Super Bowl. As Eli throws the winning pass to Plaxico it’s as though God has intervened and said, “Alright Brian, this is it. An opportunity like this is not going to happen again. She’s been patient, but now it’s time. If you don’t do this right now, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.”
I love it! I wish he was home right now... but I doubt my fam needs to know we slept on the couch together... do I ask him to edit it?
