So aggravated... FMIL & Invitation vent - need your opinion

Ok so yesterday I get my invitation sample from Pippy's Sweets. There are some changes I have to make but overall I really love it. The pocketfold is a dark brown and I will have a pink ribbon around it.
A few minutes ago FH calls me to tell me he thinks maybe we should try a different pocketfold color. Right away I knew this wasn't coming from him, but from FMIL who probably talked to him this morning about it.

Last night he liked the brown a lot, now he's telling me how dark brown is maybe too dark for a wedding invitation and maybe we could change it to light pink or something. SO I called him out on it because I knew this wasn't coming from him. He admitted that his mom talked to him about it this morning and I told him that I didn't want to talk about it with him anymore because I was getting pi$$ed cause I know this isn't his original idea and that I know she talked to him about it and tried to change his mind.

I want to keep it brown and had planned to do brown all along! BMs are wearing mocha dresses, GM are probably wearing dark brown tuxes and pink and orange are my accent colors.

I could tell in his voice that he knew I was on to him and FMIL.

So what do you think?
Is brown bad for a pocketfold?? I don't think so at all and I see it all the time! I see black, red, dark blue, etc. pocketfolds. I think it looks elegant and different! Not all invitations need to be white, ivory or pastel!!

brown is great for a pocketfold and FMIL needs to butt out!

ppl from the 'old school' don't get that not all wedding invites these days are cream, ivory, white, etc. and all simple and plain like years ago when they got married. we have tons of choices or colors and styles--and i say go for what you and FH originally wanted!

If FMIL is paying for the invites, then she can have a say in what they look like. If not, BUTT out.

As long as you and FH like them, that is all that matters. Can't please all of the people all of the time.
Brown and pink look beautiful together.

My invites are a dark sage color with chocolate brown ink. Non-traditional the way FH and I wanted them to be.

I lovovvvveeee the brwon. If I was having a fall wedding I would have went with the brown. I did pocket folds to by envelopments and went with the ercu. Its like a sparkely beige with brown lettering. Brown is modern and classy. Go for it!!! Use brown letting just to piss wen off. Its your wedding. My FMIL said the same thing about my invites. She could not believe i was doing pocketflolds but I stuck to my guns. When the invitations came in the mail she ate heard wrods cuz all her girlsfriends were calling saying how beatiful they were!!!

I love brown, too! Don't listen. That's just the older generation speaking....they come from a time when everything wedding related was white. I'm using a lot of brown....in my invites (when I finally pick them out), my girls dresses, my linens, even my cake will be chocolate...the cake alone raised some eyebrows.
Bottom line, it's your day. If you love your invites, leave them as is.

Who's getting married you or you FMIL. . .this is yours and your FH day the parents no matter whose parents they are need to respect that. . . . I am doung brown also I love how elegant it looks. . . FMIL needs to bud out cause its not her wedding. . . go with what you want. . . as long as you are happy forget about the outsiders.

FH just called me again to apologize and he admitted he was annoyed with FMIL's opinion too and was sorry that he even mentioned the issue to me in the first place.
We are paying for the invitations and we are keeping the brown! I love FMIL, but she can be kind of a know-it-all and it drives me nuts! And I HATE when she talks to FH about something, trying to change his mind, and then he falls for it and comes back to me with HER idea, trying to pass it off as his!!! Makes me so

im all for the brown pocketfold! I did light blue invites!.. nothing wrong w/ white or ivory but i wanted something different. the brown will be super elegant especially accented w/ pink. Its not her wedding, she needs to keep it to herself. how inappropriate!

I love the idea of a dark color invite, and the brown sounds great, very regal!! Tough noogies FMIL, you lose (insert sticking tongue out emoticon!)

no! brown is perfect! my invites are dark too, purple with lavender accents. don't let FMIL screw around with YOUR wedding!!!

Thanks! I know I'm not nuts here and that brown is very elegant, especially for the fall, but really for any time of year! This isn't 1975!!

I didnt ask my FMIL or mom. I just ordered them. Confirmed with FH he liked it , so we got it.

The invitation the both of you choose is perfect. Brown and Pink are beautiful!!! FMIL needs to take a step back. This is you and your FH's special day.

my colors are also brown and pink, everyone loved the combination and they didnt think it was to dark.

Quite frankly your FMIL's opinion doesnt count its between you and FH

My FMIL wasnt involved in any of our plans. we showed them after we had picked out our stuff and it made it easier. since FH loves to listen to FMIL

Hey Ida! yeah well, we showed the sample to her last night and I could tell she wasn't thrilled with it, but I didn't care. Todd and I have been totally doing the invitations on our own and this was the first time she had seen anything to do with it.

We're going to keep the brown cause we like it and I especially like it. I think her opinion is just really outdated.
But what pi$$ed me off was that she tried to convince Todd the brown was bad and then he was stupid and fell for it and tried to talk to me about it!!

I told him I'm not naive and I knew what was going on as soon as it came out of his mouth.

My FMIL does that all the time but most of the time my fh takes my side the few times he doesn't he regrets it. Thats why I am marrying him Your are not alone. Just know that eventually they come to their senses
