So annoyed!!!!!

So I will preface this message stating, I know it was rude and not the right way to handle things at all...But here we go....So my mother and step father are paying for the wedding....I could invite only so many people because, although they are paying for it, I just didn't want to be mean and demanding inviting a whole bunch of people. So, I had to cut people off my list and unfortunately, they were family members...These family member's however have been like strangers to me my whole life...I have tried and tried and tried to be part of my own family and they basically have pushed me away...I even invited them to my graduation party...and most did not even have the respect to rsvp no...So, anyways, we found room and I thought it would be a last nice gesture to invite them to my wedding(Now the delivery could have been nicer, as I invited them trough a group message on face book) and to say the least a lot of them had mean words to say to me...And I am thinking to myself I was doing a nice thing inviting them to my wedding....Well, they thought it was rude and wrong of me to have excluded them in the first place...I am just so hurt and pissed seeing my past that I now realize I want absolutely nothing to do with them here on out....That is me complaining and I am done lol

Personally if I received a group message on Facebook 3 weeks before a wedding I would be highly insulted too & honestly wouldn't attend either. I think if you would have reached out to each person individually they would have understood your reasoning of not inviting them from the start. I also don't agree with their responses either. They shouldn't have been mean to you. I would have just politely declined.

Yea, no I completely agree it wasn't nice...But in the past with this family every time I have done things the right way I have been rejected as well....So I guess, I just didn't care enough...And it was last minute on purpose...So I think everything is working out for the best...

.. it kinda sounds like you didn't want them there anyway. Why bother then with a FB invite?

Okay so yeah I agree with everyone on here, and while I think the invite was kind of presented in a bad way on your part, I think it was mean of them to respond the way they did to you. I think that it is very normal these days to be invited to a wedding as part of a 'B list', so I personally wouldn't be that insulted if I were invited to someone's wedding last minute if it were done in person and explained that there was room and that they would love to have us there.. but if it was a facebook message I'd be kind of like 'ok well thank you for the offer but I'll pass' lol... Don't stress too much over it, you can't change what's been done and dwelling on it will only ruin the next few weeks of planning.. you're wedding will be the best day of your life, and you don't want to look back on the planning and think of this stupid incident. Let it go and have fun because there's only 3 weeks left!
