So my 2 female bosses where so excited for me when I got engaged they practically invited themselves to my wedding before there was even a wedding in the works.
They made a lot of chit chat with me about wedding junk in front of my office mates, so when it came time for invites, I thought it just felt polite to invite the whole office.
There are 2 college age guys who I thought for sure would not want to bother coming to a wedding since they live in the city, don't drive, and my wedding is on the east end!
My boss is going to personally drive them to my wedding!
I took them aside a few days before RSVP date and talked to them and said, please don't feel presured to go, I'll be happy to have you there, but I understand otherwise. Its a very family oriented event anyhow.
Neither sent an RSVP.
Today I took on of them aside and said something along the lines, 'so I didn't get your RSVP, I totally understand that you can't come and its okay' ... SO HE SAYS HE FORGOT all about the RSVP but will defintiy go and that the other coming too causey they wouldn't go without eacother.
I gave caterer my final numbers and didn't include them. I just feel like they wont come last minute... I already set up all my seating perfectly without them. I think I need another whole table if they come

I'm not sure that there is anything you can do about it now...consider them built in motivational dancers...

I would get placecards made up for them just in case....unfortunately, there are no-shows sometimes and these guests might be doing you a favor If they don't show, at least you didn't pay for them in advance!! You did the right thing by inviting them though...

I would be honest and be like ...you never sent in your RSVP so I didn't include you in the seating.... if you aren't sure if you are coming tell me now b/c i have to change things around if you do... tell them you won't mind either way but you need to know for sure !!!

It sounds to me like you're sure they are coming. You can't squeeze them into another table somewhere? Are all of your tables the same size?

ah! That's such a pain. I'm so afraid of going over my final count also. Hopefully they don't come, but if they do - make sure you're at least prepared so that there's no embarrassing moments (for you OR them).

I agree there are guests that won't show even though they RSVP'd and as long as you do a place card for them the Maitre D' or someone at the hall will take care of seating them. The scary part is that people will come who didn't RSVP and there will be no shows of people who did. In the end it all balances out and you don't have to worry about spending extra money on these two.

hmm...well - u invited them, so u can't really 'un-invite' them..and as far as u know they're coming. If u know there needs to be a whole extra table for them, then honestly i'd plan on them coming. if it was one or two people, i'd say just have placecards ready and the hall can seat them if need be - that way u dont have to pay for them ahead of time and have them pull a no show - but a whole table? that's a whole set of linens, chairs, a centerpiece, placesetting...if they need to set all that up it's going to be a pain...especially if they stroll in late(because then they'll be doing this during the actual reception). but it's up to u!

I agree.... tell them you need a definite answer and stress that you have to change things if they do come so that they know if they say yes that they should def show up.
