So annoying

Im assembling my favors (butterfly shaped seed paper in vellum envelopes with a ribbon tied through the top of the envelope) and for some reason the ribbon they sent me is way too long, so I have to trim it to look right and I HATE CUTTING RIBBON! My favors look like pure cr@p bc every time I try to trim the ribbon, its fraying!!! Ive only done like 10 and Im giving up for the night bc they look heinous.

Any suggestions on how to cut ribbon without it fraying everywhere? My favors look so messy!

ETA: heres the one they assembled and you can see this ones even frayed and mine are MUCH worse. Worse comes to worse, I guess Ill go buy new ribbon that has less tendency to fray.

No suggestions but I'm totally jealous that you have vellum envelopes and I can't find a single freaking store in bklyn that has them. I think it's too late to order online

Use a REALLY sharp scissor

i'm sorry! that's so crappy! there's really no way for you to keep the ribbons whole? the only thing i can think of is to cut them and immediately put some crazy glue on the ends. i don't know if it will work, but i guess it's worth a shot! good luck!

Grr...Im going to put this on pause i guess and buy really sharp new scissors and then have at it again. Im worried even a sharp scissor will do the job short term and eventually theyll all fray. Ugh.

I'll try. I was delaying it b/c I hoped to find it in a store...but no luck. Also, the pastel colored vellum 4 bar envelopes are discontinued in a lot of the online stores. Guess I'll have to settle for clear.

I really think that the 'V' cut wil look so good with your favor. AND, it won't fray

Honestly, Jess....you're gonna be the only one that notices....

Don't drive yourself too crazy over it! Pick your battles!!

Go to a craft store and buy fabric scissors, they have the orange handle.
ask someone who works there or do a search online on how to treat the end of the ribbon so it won't frey. They look great but I am a detail freak and had the same problem with ribbon, but used my fabric scissors and the ends were fine. But I didn't treat mine because the ends are covered by a tag. GL HTH
