So bummed

So bummed

I wanted to wear my sis's veil on my wedding day.

She bout the ribbon edged veiling at a Vera Wang sample sale, and a neighbor of ours made the headpiece and then showed my mom how to glue pearls and cystals to the veiling.
Since my sis was married 13 years ago, this would be my something borrowed. It is also sentimental because my mom passed away and she had helped to create the veil.

Problem for me is that the veil is white and the silk rosettes on the headpiece have darkened considerably. My dress is light gold, so the veil doesn't match the dress.

Now I have to shop for a veil and headpiece. I guess I'll head out to Tri-County this weekend.

Just bummed that I can't use the veil.

Sorry to hear that - I can say Barron's is great!!

I am not the most creative person but can you use the veil for another purpose?? Make it into something - I know other brides here could probably come up with great ideas

I bet you could somehow incorporate parts of the veil into a garter (not the throw away garter, of course, if you're doing a garter toss).

However, you and your sis would have to decide if you wanted to dismantle part of the veil.

Maybe you can dismantle the head piece and replace it with one that matches your dress.

Thanks girls.
I think I'll just leave the veil alone and let my sis keep it for her daughter. She can use part of it when my niece makes communion.
I'll have other memories of my mom with me, and I can borrow a piece of jewelry from my sis.

My sister wore my mom's veil. They tea-stained it to match my sister's light gold dress. Just put it in the bathtub with tea bags and keep checking it until it's the right shade.

That's a good idea.
But, the veil has pearls on it, so they would probably become stained as well.

I'll try Barron's this weekend.

Mmm, yeah the pearls probably would get ruined. My sis added on pearls after they dyed it.
Good luck with your search!
