So Bummed

To give you some background I wanted to have my wedding in the Florida Keys on the beach. Friends of mine got married in Key West and I fell in love with the idea, planning everything in my head before I was even engaged! When the time came me and FH told our parents our idea about Florida and they turned it down saying none of our family would be able to come etc (mind you most of my family lives in Florida & NC). So now I'm 6 months away from my wedding, planning the big elaborate wedding our families wanted (and yes of course I'm happy about our wedding and planning it to make me and FH as happy as possible) but almost everyday I get news of family members that are most likely not going to be able to make it. My Nana is bedridden so of course I understand that (but I'm very close with her so it still hurts), my grandparents said they trip may be too much for them, my uncle/godfather was heard saying 'just send a check' so hes not coming, and my cousins who I'm the most closest to can't make it either bc of money.

I'm just so upset that now after all this, most of my family isn't gonna be there. I gave up my 'dream' wedding and I feel like its for nothing. Our parents kept saying 'no ones gonna be able to come if you have it in Fla' and now it seems like no ones coming now anyway. Like FH said 'It doesn't matter if its just me and you, we're gonna have fun regardless' and he's right but its like I planned this whole big wedding to have family & friends there and my list just keeps getting shorter and shorter I almost feel like whats the point?

Sorry girls, didn't realize how much I wrote! I just needed to vent. I understand most of the issue is money for traveling but it hurts that the ppl I really want there wont be.

Sorry - that stinks. Try to distract yourself and focus on the people who will be at your wedding.

I am so sorry.

I know how that feels- when you want something and feel that people are pushing you in a different direction. Honestly, as people say they won't be able to attend I am secretly happy, since I wanted a much smaller wedding than we are having- FH wanted a big one!

It will all be great and you will have a fabulous day with your closest family and your husband!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you're fh is right though...just keep looking forward, it's not good to think about what you could have done

I'm kinda in the same situation... I wanted a Disney wedding in FL and my parents said the same thing: 'No one will come'

I still cry that I want my dream wedding and my FH comforts me the same way yours does.

Sometimes I find some comfort in the thought of doing a vow renewal at Disney... maybe you could do the same?

Now I'm panicking even more because we moved our room up to a larger one and I'm scared we won't make the minimum! lol Ugh if its not one thing, its another!

But yes a vow renewal sounds great! If I don't run off and elope first!

Im sorry you're sad love Try to keep your head up tho... your going to be a gorgeous bride and you're marrying your Prince!

aww thats tough!
is it too late to change it all to your dream?!!?
if not, make the best of it and in 5 years recreate your dream wedding for vow renewals!

ITA with this.

I have a similar situation with FH's family. Most of them won't come because they live all over the place and even though they are close, a trip to NY is just not something they can afford right now

Sorry you have to deal with this....your day will be amazing because it's you and FH.
