Low and behold my FH and I waited to go to the church to book a date for our wedding.....we had bought our house back in August and that took up a lot of our time and money, so we figured we'd wait......we finally decided to plan our wedding and went catering hall shopping this past weekend....we decided we'd probably have our wedding at the Brentwood Country Club this coming spring.....not realizing that you have to book with the church 7 months prior to complete the whole process.....obviously it's too late for us now unless we hold off on the wedding for another whole year....I'm sooo bummed. Our grandparents are both getting older and we want them to be around for our wedding....so now we are deciding whether or not to have the ceremony there or wait a year. I'm soooo bummed it's not even funny

Re: SO bummed out
Its a wonderful thing to have your grandparents there....If you dont mind it I would have the ceremony at the rh (thats just my opinion).
I do hope things work out for the best for both of you! whichever you decide to do

I agree with the above poster. Talk with FH and evaluate wether you can bend on having the ceremony in the church and be okay with it. I'm sure either way it'll be beautiful!!!

Re: SO bummed out
This may be a bit personal, but May is so close and it's great that your grandparents can be there now. If you and FH can pull off this wedding in the next 3 months, can you just have the ceremony at the RH?

Re: SO bummed out
you can try other parishes honestly i booked my church 5 months before i have been having an awful time with my parish so i changed it!! you can def talk to the priest and let them know your situation or another alternative is to have your ceremony at the RH

Re: SO bummed out
Thanks girls for all of your help and support......We are fine with putting the weather together within a few months (it's actually probably gonna be in June....I picked May just to be able to register for this site) so I'm sure having it at the reception hall wouldn't be an issue...it's just I guess not what we were hoping to do....our grandparents are in good health but you never know what can happen in a year....we want every one to be at our wedding happy and healthy so I think that's where my FH's input is and how is feeling are to the situation.....I may see if I can call the Lindenhurst parish and see what they can do...I moved from Farmingdale to Lindenhurst....so we'll see what that does Thanks so much!!

Re: SO bummed out
I am getting married at my reception hall for similar reasons.
However I do plan to have a vow renewal in a church at some point in the future (hopefully our 1 year anniversary if possible)

Re: SO bummed out
The church is definitely the most stressful part of planning a wedding. I am having huge issues with them at the moment. I would call different parishes and see if any can help you. I think you can do Pre Cana in one weekend---I'm really not too sure though. Good luck and don't give up so soon. I really just can't understand why the church is so difficult. I would think they would be happy young people want to get married through the church

Is the church willing to bend AT ALL? Could you maybe explain the situation to them?

Re: SO bummed out
Every church seems to give a different response... I would suggest trying a different one, in hopes you can have it the way you want.

Re: SO bummed out
Are you Catholic? If so and I don't know where you are located but call St. Patrick in Bay Shore and St Annes in Brentwood. 2 of my friends got married in just 3 months and each of those churches were able to accomodate them. You may have to pay a non-member fee but I know St Pats is having their pre-cana and focus in Feb so it can't hurt to call them tomorrow. And they are both right near the BCCC

Re: SO bummed out
I agree with previous posters, tell them your situation and I am sure the priests would understand.
Other suggestions: 1) Perhaps someone in your family is really involved in a church and they could talk to the priest about you and assist in the church. Maybe even one of your grandparents? 2) Another idea would be to go to one of your childhood parish and ask them to do it-of course this only works if one of you grew up on long island.
Good luck!

Re: SO bummed out
I would pass on the church. My grandfather just passed away and it hurts me so much to know he won't be there to see me get married. I think having the people who are most important to you be at your wedding trumps the location any day.
