So confused....

So when all is said and done I invited over 270 people to the wedding. I wanted to keep it small but we just have really big families.. Tell me why I am BARELY gonna make my minimum of 140????? *** is wrong with people!!!!!! I understand that the economy is bad and all but that isn't why most people are coming to the wedding. I think only 6 of the guests can't come do to job losses and whatnot. For everyone else it is all B.S. excuses... My FMIL seems to be upset because apparently she had several friends she wanted to invite to the wedding but couldn't because 'we didn't allow it'. This REALLY hurt my feelings because I truly thought I invited all of her A and B list. I had no idea there were other people that didn't get invited. Even still, what if I invited like 300 people and a lot of them actually came??? I probably wouldn't have been able to even afford a 250 person wedding! It seems in this situation I lose no matter what and I am just super upset and needed to vent!

That's unfair of FMIL. There's no way to please everyone when it comes to the guest list, though. It sounds like you were more than fair.

If you're shy of your minimum, will the RH throw in any extras for you?

I think I will make my minimum by like 3 people ( ) but it is cutting it super close! We had a minimum of 150 and my mom begged and pleaded to have to lowered to 140 just in case and thank god she did!

I don't think FMIL meant it in a bad way but I was totally floored by it. I even told FSIL that I felt really taken back by it because I had no idea there were extra people to be invited! I was even adding people from fh's side to my list as of THIS WEEKEND so to hear there were 'all these people' I was missing completely shocked me. Don't get me wrong I love FMIL to death but I am still really confused by this!

So sorry to hear this It's astonishing how many NOs - but in the end it works out better for you because that would have been super expensive! At least you'll make your minimum
