So FH and I were all set on The Surf Club, even though The Crescent Beach Club had originally been my first choice. The Surf Club is $105 per person and teh Crescent is $145-big difference and we didn't see where The Crescent could make up for the difference. Well we went to see The Crescent this morning and I fell in love. We left a $500 refundable deposit to hold the date till the 20th. FH says we can afford it and worse case we take out a loan but I am scared we can't. I so want to get married there but am just afraid we'll come up short on money in the end. Ugh what to do.

Go with your gut...have your wedding where you love...you will be sorry if you 'settle' on something else! You deserve the wedding you have always wanted!

Well...look at the bright side you have about 2 years to save....you'll just have to cut corners and sacrifice in other areas. If the hall is your priority, then you should pick somewhere you love.

I would go with the place you love which seems to be the crescent! it may be more money but in the end you will be soo happy. you may just have to cut some corners...invite less, do a lot of diy things, etc... also consider maybe picking up a part time 2nd job. I def am so I can have my dream wedding !

Are you stuck on a night time wedding? How about trying for the afternoon. We are doing that because we couldn't reach our RH's high minimum for evening (225) but we were too much in love not to have our reception there. We wound up booking for the afternoon (saving about $30 pp) and we're going to keep partying at a hotel or something afterwards.

Yeah we tossed around the idea of a day time wedding but think that for us and our family and friends we'd be better with an evening wedding.

I agree -- don't settle and go with the place of your dreams, but don't take out loans for your wedding. It is only one day, and as important as that day is, you dont want to start your new lives together saddled with wedding debt.
cut back on other areas and/or use the next 2 years to save save save. you can do it!

FH's parents are going to give us the deposit ($8600) and my parents are going to help with flowers and photography and pay for my dress.
We sat down and figured out to pay everything without loans we'd have to save about $1200 a month. Because I am in school I barely make enough to live on so a lot of the savings would fall in FH's hands. He seems to be ok with it, and said it wouldn't be a big deal if we had to tak eout a small loan a month or so before the wedding and then just pay it back with what we make. I think we're settled on having it at The Crescent, but I know I am just going to worry about the money for a bit. But having my wedding where I want and how I want it, I know will help make that worry go away.

If you just settle you will regret it. Everytime you look at your wedding album you will wonder what the pics would have looked like at the place of your dreams. Money will be tight for awhile but you will forget about that over the years everytime you look at your pictures.

Go with the one you fell in love with!!! It is a big difference, but really it isn't when it comes to being happy....you are only going to do this once...I can see if there was like a $100 difference between the two...maybe you can cut your guest list by a few people to make it more affordable.

Re: So confused about RH
Well we're settled on The Crescent Beach Club. We went to dinner there (at the Pine Island Grill) on Saturday and took FH's parents to see the place. They were very happy with it and the dinner was excellent! So, even though I knew we'd have it there last week, we put down the full deposit on Saturday. I also got to see the place at night (the beach and all) and it looks great!

A loan would be a last resort if we came up a few thousand short when our final payment was due. We certainly wouldn't take it out for the whole amount. We'd take it out like a month before the wedding and then pay it off with money we get at the wedding. My sister did the same thing.

go with your gut feeling, if that is the one that you like then go with it.
