So confused about RH

Original post by Dr Meg

So FH and I were all set on The Surf Club, even though The Crescent Beach Club had originally been my first choice. The Surf Club is $105 per person and teh Crescent is $145-big difference and we didn't see where The Crescent could make up for the difference.
Well we went to see The Crescent this morning and I fell in love. We left a $500 refundable deposit to hold the date till the 20th. FH says we can afford it and worse case we take out a loan but I am scared we can't. I so want to get married there but am just afraid we'll come up short on money in the end. Ugh what to do.

Errr...loans for weddings? Not sure that's a good idea

A loan would be a last resort if we came up a few thousand short when our final payment was due. We certainly wouldn't take it out for the whole amount.
We'd take it out like a month before the wedding and then pay it off with money we get at the wedding. My sister did the same thing.

OH OH good cause I thought you meant for like the whole thing cause people do that and cause I'm like 50K in the hole from school already

I agree go with which one you both thin kwill make your day the specialist!
And i agree the food at the crescent was amazing! Good luck you'll make the right decision

Well we're settled on The Crescent Beach Club. We went to dinner there (at the Pine Island Grill) on Saturday and took FH's parents to see the place. They were very happy with it and the dinner was excellent! So, even though I knew we'd have it there last week, we put down the full deposit on Saturday. I also got to see the place at night (the beach and all) and it looks great!

I am happy you made your pick. .

Yeah I def wouldn't do that. Believe me I'm $50k+ in the hole from school too and I will be graduating 9 months before the wedding, so the school loan payments will be kicking in right when it's crunch time to save for the wedding.
Hopefully I'll find a job that pays well, and when I do start working I plan to keep living on what I currently make (ie close to nothing) and just save the difference for the wedding.

I'm glad you went with the RH that you fell in love with. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm hoping that I'll only be doing my wedding day once in my life...so do it right the first time!

You've got 2 years to save...it'll be worth it in the end!

Good luck and enjoy the planning.
