Hello follow brides... I am new to this site and looking for some advice.
I got engaged in June 2011 and am marrying that man of my dreams. We want to get married in Fall 2012 but are really confused on what to do.
We want to get married outside like either at a beach or at a place with beautiful scenery. We only want to have our 20-30 closest family and friends there to celebrate. We want to have the ceremony at the place that we have the 'mini-reception' so we don't have to travel in between. Every place that I have called is telling me they have like a 50-75 person minimum which I just don't have. I don't need a huge reception hall or banquet hall, can be a small intimate room to have a nice dinner.
I don't know what to do. I am willing to go from Queens to Montauk.
I invite any suggestions...please!
Thank you!! :)

First of all, Congratulations on getting engaged
would you consider a backyard wedding?
how about finding a nice restaurant that's by a pretty outdoors area (beach or whatnot) ... you could get married outside and then walk over to the restaurant (but make sure you have a plan in case it rains)
i've also heard of people renting houses for the weekend and having the wedding there.
otherwise, if you really want a reception hall, they do exist ... but you might have to be flexible with the wedding day (ie: get married on a monday night or something).
either way, good luck

What if you did something close to the little reception, and then had a private room at a nice, nearby restaurant? You could do a beach wedding or something and drive 10 minutes? It might work out better, since having a ceremony at a non-RH might be difficult to find?

There is a restaurant at Captree that is adorable, waterfront looking over the fishing boats, and they do host parties like Showers etc. Call them and see what they say!!! Click me!

The Garden Grill in Smithtown is really nice and the food is excellent. FH's uncle got married there on a strict budget with 30-40 guests and it turned out really nice! They also held their ceremony inside, but the grounds were also large enough to accommodate the number of people you have. here's their fb page! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Garden-Grill/106252309417860

Wall's Wharf in Bayville? That's the only place I can think of near a beach with ocean views and very small parties.
They have a small room which I think can seat up to 50 people. The food is amazing and the place is beautiful.
Congratulations and good luck!

Coral House, Harbor Links, Thatched Cottage, Three Village Inn and Atlantis all list minimums of 30 or under... could try those?

Westbury Manor offers the Conservatory for small parties. There may be restrictions as far as days of the week and times, but it's beautiful there.

I'll throw in a vote for 21 Main since it's owned by the same company as my RH, Lands End. (Loven' Oven).
You mentioned Montauk, there is a super cute laid back but chique restaurant/bar/hotel there that might be nice for an intimate wedding. It has a very distinct feel though so might not be right for you....but pricing might be good in Montauk's offseason! (fall) And all of your guests could stay right at the hotel!
My family lives the stonebride country club community (smithtown) and the clubhouse does weddings, showers, etc. They are not your typical catering hall, so I would think they might accomodate your type of party...
