So done!

So done!

After such a great day yesterday, I'm done! I can't take wedding planning anymore! Everyone has an opinion, everyone thinks they're way is the better/best way. I'm so frustrated and I feel like I'm taking it out on everyone.
I had my hair and makeup trial yesterday. Loved everything! I gave her a $100 deposit to save my date. I thought her prices were reasonable, especially considering she does both services and would be traveling to me. $300 me (the bride is always more expensive) and $85 per service for the bridal pary, including my mother. My mom told me that sounded expensive. EVERYTHING is expensive. And now I have to worry about my bridal party declining the services because of the price and I am literally the only person who remotely knows how to do makeup (and kinda hair). I can only imagine what my pictures would look like if everyone decided not to use the services.
I AM SO DONE!

You could offer to pay for the service as part of your gift to the girls.

Sorry. It's hard to make everyone happy. I am paying for hair for everyone which is a total of 9 people (includes me). I want hair done and didn't want them to have the extra expensive.
For make-up, it will only be me and 4 BM's. 2 are kids, my mom will do her own and FH sister doesn't normally wear make-up and wouldn't feel comfortable.

Your pictures will be beautiful. Don't stress. You can always pay half or a certain amount. Also, moms don't understand and mine only knows stuff from 40 years ago.

I think the price for the BM is reasonable considering what some artists charge but I can understand if a BM doesn't want to pay that much. Everyone funds are different. Is the hair and MUA making you have a min # of girls? If not, then I would give the option to your girls to get their hair and MU done elsewhere or not at all if they wish.

My MUA only charges $50 for the BMs but some of my girls do not want to get their MU done and that is fine with me. I personally think they should because they will be taking pro pix but if they don't want to, then no biggie to me. Your photos will come out fine regardless, I wouldn't worry about that.

I agree! Your pictures will still come out beautiful!
If you can pay half for the makeup as part of your gift maybe the girls will do it then?
You cant listen to what everyone says, they will all have their own opinion! Just listen to your heart & f you & FH are happy, that's all that matters - you can't please everyone!

Is the $85 for their hair and mu? Or just mu? I do think the $300 for you is a bit pricey though. I'm paying $150 for me the day of and my girls are paying $120 for both.

I'm paying more but I needed to make sure that I chose someone that had a lot of experience with African-American hair & skin tones. I don't think the prices your were given are unreasonable. Especially if you loved the look that she gave you. Your piece of mind knowing you will look great on your wedding day is worth more than trying to find the cheapest price. As someone else previously mentioned, if your BMs feel the price is too expensive then I would offer to pay at least half and use that toward their gift if you really want them to use her services.

P.S. Older people don't realize that things don't cost the same as they did when they got married. Everything will work out.

Thanks for your responses girls. It's just been a roller coaster weekend. Of course I already bought half of what is supposed to be the girls' gifts. In the midst of it all, my gorgeous but expensive invitations came in. There are a bunch of mistakes and I just want it all done!

I think Gretchen is WELL WORTH IT!! I love her work and her involvement with her clients. I am actually buying one service for each of my girls as part of their present. I dont think she is unreasonable at all compared to others, Sure you can find cheaper, but is it really worth it if you have found the right person for you?

This is pretty much how I feel. I may think about buying one service for them, but it wasn't originally part of my budget so I might simply might not be able to.

your wedding is in July!!! they have time to put away $10 every week for their hair and make up!....don't get frustrated!!! don't try to please everybody bc that will be impossible, just do everything your way!! is YOUR wedding!!

First, relax.
Second, you have a right to be annoyed.
Third, ignore them all!!!

I paid $100 for my hair and $100 for my makeup.
All other girls were $85 for Makeup (includes airbrush) and updo's started at $65.

The good part is that I didn't need to leave a deposit or guarantee a certain amount of people.

I think $85/service for the Bridal part is fine!!!

I don't see anything wrong with your pricing. Girls should know it's an added expense going into it. I have my girls the option bc some girls could do their own make up really well or they had an option to go somewhere else. Everyone feels better when they know they have a choice rather than an ultimatum.

You can't make ppl happy in this wedding prices no matter what. Believe me, the stories I could tell and I tried being the most laid back bride. Ppl will *****, ppl will tell you what you need to do. Yes them to death but then do what you want. So much easier that way!

Process, not prices.

I think your price is a little high but if your comfortable w her and she does s great job it's totally worth it.
as for your girls, sorry but you join a bridal party knowing that u will have to pay for hair and makeup... I have one bm who isn't getting her hair done bc it's boy short and there is literally nothing they could do so no point in wasting. But $120 is so reasonable for girls

I wouldn't pay $85 for hair services as a bridesmaid, especially when the stylist is newly licensed like Gretchen and I couldn't find a license listed for her assistant either. My sister's hair was fried last year as a bridesmaid by an unlicensed hairstylist, so I'm making sure whoever I look into has a valid cosmetology license. I also can't see paying top dollar for someone who just got their license either. That doesn't sit well with me. Us brides get so screwed over at the mention of the word wedding and it's not cool. Good luck though
