SO EXCITED!!!! Ordering BM & Jr. BM Dresses tomorrow! (UPDATED w/PICS)

That's one more HUGE thing off the list!

Both dresses are fortunately Jim Hjelm, and we can order them together so that the color of the dresses will match exactly.

The color will be Cashmere (UPDATE BELOW)

The Jr. BM dress is really simple, but she'll be 10 years old, and we can't have her walking around in a flower girl dress or an 'older' looking dress.....

SO - WHAT'S NEXT ON THE LIST????

eta. gorgeous by the way!

I made the girls change the color from cashmere - it just made me happier to have Maize...I know I know...it's virtually the same, but that Cashmere color seriously looked WHITE in person...

After MOH P*ssed me off, I yelled at her, and said 'listen, just look at the other color, and you'll realize that it's not a huge difference. Please, just make me happy!'

I think it's very pretty.

the next thing on your list, if you didn't do it already is probably flowers. Since, you know the color for sure!

That's what I'm doing. Going to see Flower Michelle on 8/25

Thanks!

I think we're going to stick with my original flower scheme - all different color purples (light) It'll add some more color to everything and I think lillac would go beautifully with the white and gold 'theme.' What ya think - be honest?

Re: XP:BHB; SO EXCITED!!!! Ordering BM & Jr. BM Dresses tomorrow! (UPDATED w/PICS)

We got to Valentina's Bridal Salon (Brooklyn, NY) at the arse crack of dawn this morning - hehehe (10am) and ordered the BM dresses. After looking at the color swatch and the color I wanted (Maize) we switched back to the original color of the dress - also the color for the sample they all tried on (Cashmere.)

I know, I know, I totally freaked out when I first saw the Cashmere and so did FI, but it's honestly not off-white and too close to my dress color. The maize was just tooooo yellow, and not enough gold.

But anyway - I'm so ecstatic that the girls tried on the dresses (except one of my other BM's who went earlier in the week b/c she had to go back to PA for school) and got to take pics of them.

We ordered all their dresses, and the Jr. BM's dress as well.

I felt terrible that the sample size was a 12 - and my girls had to SQUEEZE into it, so mind the pictures! I just can't believe how SMALL JIM HJELM BM DRESSES RUN!!!!!! Two of the ladies normally wear a 10/12 in STREET clothes, and had to order (get this) PLUS size dresses - size 18! They were in shock, and so was I. AND - they have to pay extra????? W T F is wrong with these dress makers.

It's bad enough as American women we have a weight complex, but now making dresses two/three sizes too small???? THE MADNESS. My MOH who normally wears a 2/4 - had to order an 8! So America wants to know what's wrong with all these women with eating disorders - look no further - they probably put their butts into a BM or Wedding dress sometime in their lives!

Okay, enough of the rant...LOL - here are the pics.

Alaina - MOH

Janine - BM

Sandra - BM

Anne - BM

Unfortunately, no pic of my other BM, Nicole. No pic of Hannah, my Jr. BM either - she was so excited about putting on the dress, but they didn't have a sample - but the pic's above.

The dress is lovely. Good color choice too!

Don't fret about the size thing. I usually wear an 10 (8 lately) and my wedding dress was ordered in a 14. The Bill Levkoff dresses for BM's run small too. One of my size 4 BM's will have to order an 8. I assure you that you would rather have the dresses be a little big and taken in, than have them fit too tight and have an uncomfy BM.

Edited for spelling.

Christine the dresses look GORGEOUS!!! Congrats!!! Everything is going to look amazing!!!

As for the sizes...I've read this in a few different magazines, the reason for the size difference is that for some strange reason, designers follow sizing charts from the 1940's For ex. someone who wears a size 4 now...in 1940 would have been considered a size 7 or 8. Crazy *ish* right??? What I don't understand is if we have changed street clothes sizes since then...wouldn't it make sense for the designers to size these dresses to today's standards???

I can see some truth to that, however, having once been a size 24, I know (as many of you with plus size BP members do) that once you hit a certain size, the dress manufacturers charge more. So if you are a 12 and have to order a 16, they get more money that way. Either that, or they simply have to order more fabric and custom make the dress - another thing I experienced when I had been heavy. Its a business - plain and simple.

Your definitely right Leslie. It's the only logical explanation for them not changing the sizes. It's really screwey though. It's not bad enough they give us a complex when we have to order dresses 3 sizes too large but then we have to pay extra for it as well.

I think they should make bridal gowns and bm dresses like the gap does. I'm really like a size 10, but at the gap i'm an 8! This false reality makes me feel so happy!! They should give this happiness to brides as well! I felt like a fat hippo when the size 12 sample gown wouldn't close! They shouldn't make brides feel like fat hippos!!!

The dresses you chose are beautiful! The gown looks lovely on each of your girls, which is really nice.

I also think you are right about the subtle color change. It is darker, which is nice. I think purple flowers will be very pretty

I chose the same dress for MOH, but I am choosing a different color for the bridesmaids. I chose this dress in papaya.

Papaya is such a GORGEOUS color. I wanted to go with amethyst, but it was just 'too much' in my opinion.

Post pics when you have them!

the dresses are beautiful. and looking at them on your girls, you should have no problem whatsoever- they will frame you and your gown beautifully, making you stand out more!!

the size thing really sux- it made all of my girls feel like crap....I never heard more diet talk in all of my life!!!!

but in all things, it's not the size that matters, but the fit!

btw. all of your girls have such gorgeous complexions...that color really works for them!
