so fh and dad bonding didnt go as great as i thought..

this past saturday my dad and fh spent about 3 hours putting together a dining room set that my dad bought us for xmas... i thought it was a great moment for them to bond and at the time i enjoyed every second of it!
they laughed, argued, drank, manly things...

anyway, today my mom tells me that my dad thinks fh is lazy and in other words not good enough for his daughter...

a little background on fh is that
1. hes never lived on his own
2. he has no idea how to use tools (this is slowly changing since we've moved in togehter...but i got to admit the first few months were a huge challenge!!!)
3. he lacks a little of common sense when it comes to buidling things, using tools, etc(sorry fh i love u, but u really do!!)

i feel terrible..fh is great, he's not handy but i am a bit.. and together we can learn....

idk what to do, should i confront dad? tell fh? i'm so torn

ps..i'm a huge daddy's girl... HUGE .. sort of sickening lol

no one will ever be good enough for daddy's little girl. whatever you do, do NOT tell FH this - his relationship with your dad may be forever changed by it. men are sensitive about things like that. JMO

aww. im sorry. your FH will get better. and he should show your dad. as long as he is trying and doesnt quit, i think that says something!

did your mom tell you that confidentialy? if so, i probably wouldnt bring it up

i agree. hopefully your dad sees that at least fh is trying!! he'll get better over time... imo, i wouldn't bring it up because fh might not look at your dad the same anymore... try talking to your dad about it and maybe he'll see it from a different point of view.

Whatever you do, don't tell FH! That's the kind of thing that nobody wants to hear. My dad and FH are both very handy so I can't say anything on that front, but I agree with you- it's a learning experience. I'd go and talk to your dad about it though if he's really upset.

my fh has never lived on his own.

sounds like your fh just isnt good with tool/building things. is that it? i mean really.

i think you should tell your pops to chill a little.
not in those words.

THAT IS TRUE BUT HE DIDN'T NEED TO SAY HE WAS LAZY

Not every guy is handy and into tools...you could bring that up to your dad. Whatever you do though, don't tell FH! It might hurt his feelings too much and it doesnt seem worth it. No one will ever be good enough for you in your dad's eyes

I am a huge daddy's girl as well. My dad absolutely loves my FH, but he gives him a hard time about everything. I think FH realized that he just wants the best for me. As an aside, FH was not very handy either, but we moved into our new house in August and the first thing we did was rip out the kitchen (which is still in progress ) and honestly he's gotten so much better. I know I always say things to my dad how proud I am of FH and what hes doing so he realizes that.

I would definitely talk to your dad but don't tell FH. FH will definitely be insulted and it will never be the same between him and your dad. Your dad is always going to think you can do better, no matter who you brought home, because your his baby girl. Regardless of that your father thinks now, I am sure as time passes and he realizes how happy you are with your FH, he will get over it.

My FH is very un-handy also :) At one point, we bought a new picture to hang on the wall and he said he will call his friend to help him hang it ... i thought that was hilarious and we ended up doing it on our own within 10 minutes :)

Anyway, don't worry about your FH not being handy.

As for the main issue, I'm not sure talking to your father would have any affect ... your dad will have to see over time that your FH is a good guy. Maybe you can have your mom talk to him :)
