So, Fred's Mom called me tonight from your neck of the woods...updated with Debi's answer

to tell me she's coming to Debi's shower. We chatted about all kinds of stuff. I asked if she had heard from Fred, who's working in San Diego this week. She had, and he loves San Diego, and wants to move there and his parents to move there But I just had to deal with the possibility of Debi moving to Long Island, and now you want to take her to San Diego? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I will be praying like crazy!!!!!!!!! Mary MOB

Ok sorry.....back to Debbie......I hope she doesnt leave you ...it is hard....esp if/when she has kids. My sis moved to NC and my parents miss her dearly and so do I. But we all say we will follow her down there soon!

Awww, Mary, I know you don't want your family to move so far away, but San Diego is SUCH a nice place to live! I visited once and wanted to move there, too.

Well, I know Debi has wanted to move to a warmer climate, and in the past has talked about moving to Fla. Although, most recently they talked about moving to State College so Debi could get her Masters Degree, and Debi said they wanted to move to Long Island. I could deal with the East Coast or the South, but moving across the globe makes me think I'll never see my Daughter again. My Son, tonight, on hearing this, said, 'Well, Mom, you'll never see Debi again!!' We do not have $ to go to California!!!! Mary MOB

Mary, there's no sense in worrying about this since it's not definite, right? And if you can't fly to CA, maybe you could drive across the country. You could take different routes at different times and see America! Think about it as a positive experience, one that will benefit you rather than hurt you.

Also, it's actually not that expensive to fly to CA if you find the right sales. And if you get a credit card that gives you airline miles, you could even earn free tickets!

OH Mary I wouldn't worry to much about it. There are lots of places that I have traveled to that I say I would love to live here when the reality is I wouldn't.
It is exciting to be somewhere different and warm when it is still cold here. Also keep in mind, when you are traveling for business -- not quite the same as if you really lived there. It is always different when you are there for work, give him til the end of the trip and he will be ready to come HOME.

I'm sorry Mary! But SD is BEAUTIFUL! I was there on business for a week and never wanted to leave.

Have you ever thought about relocating?

Hey, sweetie!! Well, I'm not allowed to fly, due to medical issues with my ears. I know people tell me things have changed since my childhood Dr. told me this many yrs. ago, but I just don't want to take chances with my hearing. My Husband will be 69 the end of the month, and is still working, even with prostate cancer under control, just to pay off the mortgage on our little house, so we have a place to retire to. So, due to $ and aging issues, I sincerely doubt we could ever make a trip to California. Mary MOB

Oh, I would LOVE to! Just can't afford it!

But yeah, I really don't think they have it as bad there as they do in other parts of CA.

I don't know much about about California. The idea of moving seems to be a trend. Our other Daughter's boyfriend, wants to move to Texas, 'After my Grandson is in college' Grandson is 11 right now. And I know my Son wants to move to a warmer climate. Mary MOB

I agree.....there is no definite yet!

Also you can def get cheap flights if you book in advance! Just as an example I have gotten $200 roundtrip to Vegas!
