Maybe you could ask your cousin about it, explain that you want to use the swans for your cake. Maybe she didnt know either that they were meant to go together as a pair - however -It was pretty rude of her to take part of your gift.

You should ask your cousin to borrow the other swan to put atop your cake-- then in the process casually say to her- it's weird that these things don't come in pairs.. then another time casually drop that you researched them and THEY DO come in pairs-- and how weird it is that you only have one.. she'll be SOO uncomfortable, she won't know what to do with herself..

actually- you should let your aunt know- or whoever got you the gift how upset you are and that you really want the other damn swan!
