So frustrated...

So frustrated...

FH & I have HUGE families.

My family is slightly larger than his... my mother is the oldest of EIGHT and my dad is one of SIX.

Of course my entire 'invite list' consists of family. And don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE my family and they are a blast to be around and will make the wedding amazing...

My parents are paying for our reception so they really do have a say in who is invited. The thing that frustrates me is that I am going to be 33 years old and out of ALL the friends I've made throughout my lifetime, I can only invite six at this time. Since I have so many cousins and family, I only have a handful of close friends... However, there are so many people I would love to invite but I simply can't. At this point we're up to 225 people (that's including guests...) I know alot of people will probably not be able to come and I have a handful of relatives I know won't bring a date... But I just feel so stressed. My parents want to retire soon so we want to try and keep the actual amount to 170.

is there anyway you and FH could pay for the additional friends that you want to have at the wedding... you can have your parents pay for the 170 and anything additional you guys pay?

That's what we're doing if we go above 170... At this point I think we're going to get that many who RSVP yes.

that stinks. as people RSVP no maybe you can invite friends?

Otherwise I would suggest an informal BBQ with them after the wedding. Call it 'Wedding Two - For Friends Only' That way they can celebrate with you.

I'm sure they'll understand.

it is very frustrating dealing with the invite list-but realize that there will be people you expect to say yes that will say no. Try not to get yourself crazy over it until you know how many are YES!

we have a lot of friends that are DJs and club promoters so we're going to try to plan something in manhattan for the next night... but it still isn't the same, ya know?

We definitely have a B-list.. But I feel so bad telling people 'well, you're on the b-list'

lol
