I think it depends - when I did mine I assumed it was ordered but who knows now...

I'm sure they ordered it. Many wedding gowns take a very long time to come in. My dress was ordered the end of June and I was told it would take 8-12 months to come in...It is just over 10 months and the dress still is not in yet.

Before I did a re select in December, I had ordered my original gown in late September. I did the re select in mid December and they hadn't put the order in yet.
But I do think it's BS that dresses can take up to a year. WhenI was doing the re select, a bride called the store I was at and the consultant was like 'Oh your wedding is in June? Yeah we could order it in the next month, no problem.

Ideally a lot of bridal salons don't want your brand new gown hanging in their back room for months and months-so even though YOU order, they don't put it in with the designer immediately.

Had I known that I would have ordered my dress last month! LOL

I think it also depends on the designer and how the gown is made. If it's a designer that does all of the detailing by hand, like Eve of Milady for example, it'll take much longer to come in.

I bought my dress in early March at Priscilla of Boston. I am not sure when they are putting/put the order in, but they said they won't start the fittings til about 6 months before the wedding....so, I'll have to wait til November to see the dress again...

Unfortunately the store may place the order whenever it's convenient for them to do so.

I was told by my salon that the dress manufacturers do a 'cutting' about 2 - 3 times a year for all their orders. So, basically, the manufacturer will hold your order until the cut date, let's say November. Once they cut the dress, it's yours. When I bought my dress, the salon told me that if i wanted, they could find out for me when the manufacturer's cut date is, and I would have until that time to come back in for new measurements if I lost/gained weight (or I suppose to change my mind, which I don't think would happen but....). This was a salon that carries some mid-to high end dresses; but I also had a salon that carries lower end dresses tell me something similar.

Usually its about 8 months to come in. Ask the Bridal salon because every dress is different.
